I've been to Gau Coffee & Bakery twice now, and I'm already hooked!
This cozy little cafe is tucked away in the Hoan Kiem district, and it's the perfect place to watch the hustle and bustle of the city.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive. They're always happy to answer questions about the menu or make recommendations.
The coffee is excellent. I've tried the egg coffee and the pain au chocolate, and both were delicious. The egg coffee is a Vietnamese specialty, and it's made with a strong coffee base and a creamy egg yolk foam. It's a bit of an acquired taste, but I absolutely love it. The pain au chocolate is also very good. It's flaky and buttery, and it's the perfect accompaniment to a cup of coffee.
I would highly recommend Gau Coffee & Bakery to anyone looking for a good cup of coffee and a relaxing atmosphere in Hanoi. It's a hidden gem that you won't want to miss.
Here are some additional things I liked about Gau Coffee & Bakery: The cafe is clean and well-maintained. The prices are reasonable. The cafe is open until 11:00 PM, so it's a great place to go for a late-night coffee or dessert.
Overall, I had a great experience at Gau Coffee & Bakery. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good...
Read moreDefinitely the best coffee and croissant I've ever tried. YET other things are quite irritating.
I don't like your choice of tables and chairs. The tables are too high and the chairs are too low for people who want to work on laptops or study. This ratio problem is really annoying. It took me half an hour just to find another way to work with my laptop cuz I can't put it on the table and type. Even if people come here just to have a coffee rather than work, the tables and chairs are still a prob tbh.
The staff is nice tho. But the guy who served me today forgot my order 2 times when I asked him for a glass of water. I had to go downstairs to take it myself because he forgot to bring it to me.
The space on the 2nd floor is not well-cleaned. And the music is loud. It would be better if you play something nice and soothing, rather than upbeat songs which make it so hard to concentrate on work or even talking to each other.
Overall, if you want to try A+ coffee and cake, this place deserves a try. But you cannot feel comfortable to sit here for long. Hope the owner can make some changes so that this could be an awesome...
Read moreWent to this place yesterday and it was a below average experience. The place looks really nice so we thought the coffee would be great too.
However, you order your coffee and stare at the person at the till while she makes it one by one. It’s awkward and weird and I don’t understand why they just don’t serve it. They have proper glasses but will only serve in a plastic one.
If you go up to the second floor, it’s not clean and they have a sign stating to please clean up yourselves.
All of this would be ok if the coffee was good. However, the coconut coffee is a mess. Large chunks of ice not properly blended, just difficult to have. Have they never had a coconut coffee in Hanoi before???
The caphe sua da, a standard of Hanoi - served in a hot coffee cup and also strangely too bitter.
Overall, there are much better places to go to. Skip this unless you’re desperate and it’s the...
