Okay, folks, listen up! So, you're wandering through the crazy maze of Hanoi's Old Quarter, and your stomach is growling like a caffeinated grizzly bear. You've got more banh mi options than you can shake a chopstick at – dedicated banh mi joints, street food stands that might as well be on roller skates, and somewhere in between, your sanity is hanging by a noodle thread. But don't you worry, because I'm here to drop some wisdom on you: just plop yourself down at Hanoi Bami. Let me tell you, this place isn't just about stuffing your face; it's an experience. You'll walk in and be like, 'Whoa, did I accidentally step into a Pinterest board?' The decor is on point – they've got that magical combo of trendy and cozy that makes you want to take selfies with your sandwich. But hold your horses, because it gets better.
The young man behind this joint is like your food fairy godmother. Friendly? Oh, yeah. Helpful? Like the person who finally explains time zones to you in a way that doesn't make your brain feel like scrambled eggs. And guess what? He's not just some random guy sitting behind the counter. Nope, he's the sandwich maestro, the hero of hunger, the conductor of carbs! He orchestrates your banh mi symphony right there in front of your eyes.
Now, let's talk about the food. Brace yourselves, because you're about to have a flavor party in your mouth. You've got two options, my friend. First, the classic banh mi – it's like a sandwich and a Vietnamese masterpiece had a delicious love child. The bread's all crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and the fillings are like a culinary United Nations meeting – each ingredient brings its A-game, creating a taste explosion that's worth writing home about.
But wait, there's more! There's a newfangled way to do banh mi, where the bread takes a backseat and lets the meat and sauce steal the show. Unfortunately, this wasn't available when I visited, so I stuck with the OG style. And boy, did it hit the spot. It's like they wrapped up Vietnam's culinary heritage in a convenient handheld package.
So, there you have it, my fellow gastronauts. When the banh mi choices in Hanoi are spinning your head faster than a top, let Hanoi Bami save the day. From the delightful decor to the owner who might as well be your food-loving BFF, and the banh mi that dances on your taste buds like they're at a flavor rave – this place is the real deal. Don't miss your chance to become a bonafide banh mi believer at Hanoi Bami. Your taste buds will thank you. And probably me, too.
PS: Oh, and before I sign off, let me drop a banh mi bombshell on you. I went all-in and tried the grilled chicken with cheese banh mi – and let me tell you, it's a flavor rollercoaster that's worth every twist and turn. Sure, it might not be your traditional banh mi, but who needs tradition when you can have grilled chicken and cheese doing a tango in your mouth? Hanoi Bami, you've taken my taste buds on an adventure I never knew I needed. Until next time, keep those banh mi masterpieces...
Read moreI was staying near the Old Quarter in Hanoi and was looking for a place nearby to have breakfast. I found this place on Maps with great reviews, so I decided to check it out.
It’s a small shop with seating for about 10 people inside and another 4 outside on the sidewalk. There were four of us, so we chose to sit outside since it was still early and the weather was nice.
We ordered the basic pan-fried eggs and another with beef, which came with a flavorful sauce. It tasted great and was served with banh mi. Personally, I eat quite a lot, and this meal was very filling. We also ordered an additional banh mi with minced meat inside — everything was delicious.
At first, the staff didn’t smile much, maybe because it was still early, but once we started talking, they became friendly and cheerful.
If I’m back in the area again, I’ll definitely stop by for...
Read moreWe came here because the place was rated 5 stars so we had high expectations.
The Banh Mi was good, but not exactly the best we have had. The bun was a bit too crispy and dry and there wasn't enough sauce, so it made the whole meal feel very dry. The fresh orange juice I ordered to wash it down was fantastic.
There was some cooking happening outside which was very smoky and therefore made it a bit hard to breathe.
The staff were very friendly and nice though and I appreciate that they asked for feedback and improvements. Goes to show they really care about their food and service, which is great 😊
Overall, still worthwhile visiting...
