What a delightful and unique experience we had at the Hanoi Marvellous Hotel & Spa! My family and I have never experienced the kind of welcome we received when we first arrived for our three-day stay: we were invited to sit down in the lobby area and enjoy a fresh drink and a cool towel, while a staff member (Leo) registered us, provided information about the hotel and amenities, and was eager to answer our questions about how best to enjoy our time.
I have to make special mention of Iris who went above and beyond the call of duty in identifying the best places in the area for the street food I mentioned I wanted to try, all of which she printed out with addresses and pictures! Iris also listened carefully to our needs to give suggestions and make reservations for restaurants, activities, and cultural events, including the remarkable Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum.
I must also recognize Rose, Suzy, and Bin, the restaurant staff, with great fondness and gratitude. Each morning we went to the sixth floor for breakfast. The buffet items were delicious and presented beautifully, and Rose also promptly came to our table to take our orders for additional items from the menu. One morning I was allowing the beef pho, which she had brought out, to sit by the side while I continued to eat some other food on my plate. I will never forget that she came back to tell me to eat the pho while it was hot. I dutifully followed her wise command! The hotel must have known from my passport that the last day of our stay was my birthday since Rose and Suzy surprised me by bringing out a plate of small cakes with a candle with “Happy Birthday” written in beautiful script with chocolate syrup--what creativity and love! The lobby staff also sang happy birthday to me when I went down to ask a question.
Our time of departure was also quite touching and unprecedented and will remain in my heart and memory. On behalf of Iris, Grace, a staff member with whom I had had a stimulating conversation about culture and communication, presented me with a packet of young toasted green rice wrapped in lotus leaves. It felt like a ceremonial gift, which my family and I ate later with appreciation and reverence. When we got in our taxi to go to the airport, several staff members came out of the hotel onto the street to see us off as though we were family.
At each point during our stay, all of the staff exhibited tremendous care, attentiveness, professionalism, and warmth, always offering a sincere smile and demonstrating eagerness to help and even anticipate our needs. Staying at Marvellous has been the best and most memorable hotel experience I’ve ever had, and I’ll be shocked if any other hotel supersedes it in my estimation. We want to express our gratitude and high regards to the staff, including Iris, Grace, Leo, Rose, Suzy, Bin, Daniel, Jacob, Lan,...

BEWARE when booking with Hanoi Marvellous Hotel & Spa. They convinced us to book directly with them instead of using Booking.com, promising better rates and perks—but this meant we were locked into a no-refund policy. And boy, do we regret that decision!
After a 9-hour journey, we arrived hoping to unwind, and at first, things seemed okay. The lobby was impressive with good air conditioning—a relief given Hanoi's oppressive humidity. The staff were friendly and helpful with our luggage and check-in, and we thought we were in for a decent stay. But it quickly went downhill from there:
Plumbing Issues: To our shock, the urinal in the lobby overflowed while it was being used. If that’s how they handle basic facilities, what does the rest of the hotel look like? Room Configuration Disaster: We had specifically booked a “connecting room” for our family, but when we got there, we were told the rooms were on different levels of the hotel, meaning our kids were separated from us. This was not only inconvenient but also a huge safety concern. Room Quality Was Far Below Expectations: The rooms looked nothing like the pictures online. Despite the air conditioning running, the rooms felt like saunas. The fridge didn’t even work (nothing was cold), and the bathroom was poorly designed—people could see you while in the shower. To top it off, the floorboards were loose and unstable, making it uncomfortable to move around. Unbearably Hot Corridors: The hallways were so hot, it was cooler outside than in the hotel! There was no fresh air or ventilation, making it a stifling experience every time we stepped outside of our room. In the end, we chose to leave early and find another hotel for our stay in Hanoi. Even though we had paid for 6 nights, the hotel only refunded us for 4 nights—totally unfair given the conditions.
Beware of the fake reviews you see online—this hotel does not live up to its reputation. We are extremely disappointed and frustrated with our experience and will never...
Read moreWe were greeted by Cuong (Ethan) straight off of our airport transport and Thang helped us with our bags and opened the door for us. The greeted us with smiles and welcome drinks and sweets. I felt at home as soon as I saw their faces. Manh (Daniel) also greeted us and talked us through the hotel and a few options for excursions. Manh and Cuong and lovely Quynhanh (Jenny) helped us with some fantastic food recommendations for our stay. Absolutely delicious, I recommend going to every one of their recommendations they never fail and every dish I had was lovely. We had a 3 day stay elsewhere for the cruise in Ha long Bay and on us leaving and returning Cuong and Tung helped with our bags they were so efficient and friendly and kind once again. Also Jack (apologies didn't catch his Vietnamese name) helped my dad with getting some bracelets whilst we were away and when he wanted to sort them out Cuong who helped with our bags took him out on the moped.
My parents and aunt and uncle are a little less mobile so information with regard to the excursions to help them was really helpful.
The breakfast!!! Absolutely amazing!!! So delicious fantastic options and lots of food.
Service at breakfast was wonderful! Greeted with smiles and kindness. Also very fast with the a la carte orders. French toast was my absolute favourite. Stars of the breakfast show were Khai and Hoai, I'm sorry I didn't mention them in my trip advisor review but they deserve a lot of recognition they faithfully served everyday always with a smile. And I know sometimes we were annoying and demanding but they were kind throughout. Thank you so much Khai and Hoai!!! Also my aunt had some time in the spa and she said it was lovely.
Basically I would tell everyone to stay here this place is amazing and Vietnamese hospitality is amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for these guys! They work hard and are so friendly. I am so grateful to them and loved every minute I spent in Vietnam!! Thank you everyone I wish you all the best for the future and all...
