I can't recommend this place enough!! It was absolutely amazing.

Important note in the beginning‼️ Make sure you go to the right restaurant. There are many similar looking next to each other and the owners try to drag you away to their restaurants. Ignore them and only go to Hi Restaurant‼️‼️

About the food/restaurant:

It is extremely tasty and authentic. This is real vietnamese food. The 2 owners are so wholesome and its just great to be here.

About the Cooking Class: After having an amazing dinner here we decided to do the cooking class. It was so much better than I could have ever imagined! We learned a LOT and the best thing is that you can choose the dishes you want to cook. Now we are able to impress all our friends at home with our new vietnamese cooking skills. In the end you even get a little gift with cooking tools. This restaurant is one of our highlights of out...

So, Hi restaurant was recommended to me by people who live in the north of Vietnam as a lovely, family run restaurant!

I did their cooking lesson! Could choose 4 dishes from the menu to learn, including local specialties. Mme Hi and her husband were lovely, pleasant, patient people. Instructions super clear, food was delicious, could write down recipe with quantity as went. A lot of thought had been put into teaching recipes that I could make in my home country, eg explaining substitution. What I could not eat was packed to take, with a lovely helpful gift for my future cooking. Cooking lesson is at 1030am each day, very reasonably priced. I did solo. They did not ask me to write this review, I offered! I do not often write reviews. Cannot recommend enough....

Incredibly tasty food, loads of vegan options. The vegetable rice pancake and the sautéed pumpkin were especially tasty. My boyfriend had the chicken pho and said it was great. Highly recommend.

Edit: we went back the next day to do the cooking class. It was a private class (we were the only two students) and we got to choose three things from the menu to cook. Since we'd been the day before and eaten the amazing food, we chose the pancake, the vegan Pho and the turmeric chilli shrimp in banana leaf. A great experience, learned some really useful cooking techniques and tips, and got to eat our feast afterwards! Highly recommend both eating at this restaurant and taking the cooking class, both great...

We stayed in Hoi An for 3 days and we came to this restaurant 5 times during our stay! It’s probably the best Vietnamese food we’ve had so far. The rice pancake is out of this world! And there are so many vegan and vegetarian options! Lots with of tofu dishes! The prices are the best in town the portions are generous. We ate for less then $10 a meal and that’s with multiple dishes and beer! The restaurant is just a few steps off the main strip near the canal. It’s in a row with a few other restaurants but it’s the first one, don’t miss it! The owner also does cooking classes, we didn’t get to try but if we were in Hoi an longer we definitely would! The owners speaks very good English.
