I LOVE Hannam! The prices can be quite high for milk but everything else is pretty reasonable. Sometimes the fruit is questionable (I found a rotting lime) so make sure you check everything. I prefer Hannam over Urban Fare (on Alberni) because Urban Fare has super high quality but also very very high prices so Hannam is my go to for urgent grocery items.

My favourite things to buy are Korean products that I may need in a pinch such as their bulgogi marinade (although it’s way cheaper if you go to Sungiven), tofu (there is a square box soft tofu that is terrible don’t get that one; it came out firm like it was previously frozen), sliced frozen meats and specialty products like gochujang, strawberry milk and banana milk. They also sell a kimchi that Koreans love.

I really like that there are three cashiers which keeps the line short and that you can sign up for Hannam deals (they text you) and a loyalty point system. Once you hit a certain amount you get $1 off lol. It’s not much really but I guess it’s better than nothing haha.

Anyway, despite some random questionable fruit/tofu issues, everything here is great. Highly recommended if you need last minute Asian groceries and ingredients downtown.

Lastly, there is FREE parking in the alley underground! It’s free if you park in the right spots, no...

Terrible customer service. I've purchased a cookware about a week ago. Brand new, still in the original box. Called the customer service to make sure if I could return it because I bought it last Sunday. The answer was NO because Saturday was the 7th day from the purchase date and I was one day late according to their 7days return policy. She was trying to educate me without even listening to me. Clearly didn't know how to handle unhappy customer. I even asked her if I can exchange for groceries but her answer was that I can only exchange to another cookware. I've never heard anything so ridiculous.

I called H-Mart downtown to ask their return policy for cookwares. The person said "just bring it back anytime", regardless their return policy. I wasn't trying to return food. Why can't Hannam be more flexible like H-Mart and hire someone who know how to deal with customers better? You just lost a customer by poor service. I will never go back...

Awesum place. Love it! Tastefully appointed, bright with large windows, free, secured, underground parking, you can take a break from your shopping before going home by eating any food from their in-store sushi and other prepared items bar while seated at a large curved eating bar that overlooks the intersection outside with all its foot traffic, they have very friendly, easy on the eyes, hard-working staff, and the store carries my yummie comfort foods - I'm a Westerner who prefers health-conscious comfort foods, like not-so sweet 'mochi' rice cake (모지 떢 - not sure if I got that right) and (slightly too sweet for my taste) pumpkin squash porridge, licking my lips at the thought, (I started a Vitamin B17 diet today), and they carry all the many varieties necessary for healthy living. -- I wish them ongoing success! - I always enjoy going there. ...

Last night, we picked up some treats from HNS and left happy! The food selection from various Korean brands - fantastic, with plenty of options. The store is clean, well-arranged, and has a great vibe. We got fresh Korean strawberries—so good—and the ice cream selection is impressive. Got a few selection and all is pretty solid. There’s also a Korean beauty section, instant noodles, biscuits, chips, and more. The meat selection is great, and the prices are reasonable. We just thought of grabbing an ice cream but left with a cart full of things we love. We used to shop mostly at H Mart for our Korean finds since we’re sort of a fan of Korean made products just like how we love things Japanese, but now we’ve discovered a new favorite spot and will definitely be back!

UPDATE: Prepared meals have gone up in price quite a bit. There are better options at the same price point at nearby competitors which is really too bad. I used to buy lunch here on lunch break and on occasion, buy groceries for home. This is still my favourite Korean grocery store. OLD REVIEW (2019): I used to go to Hannam on North Road when I lived closer to that area. So now I'm pretty happy this opened here on Robson. This is also a great option for cheap/decent sushi and gimbap made fresh on site. They even have little containers for your wasabi soy sauce (unlike Fujiya)!
