Edit 21/6/23: Dear hotel operations manager Eliška, perhaps you should have let my review without response, as you are denying the facts I stated. This room cost around 410 euros for 2 nights before I booked it. At least honour the room booking as per pictures I now added below..
I could have booked, paid and reserved my room type despite your reception staff's assertion that you were fully booked. Also, I did not book the room you assigned assigned to me on the day. In fact, my booked room picture on your website was not the one I was given. I could not and did not open the room window. Your staff stated that you can't change the temperature. I went to your reception and spoke to your staff who promised on more than one occasion that they will tell the manager when she is present. I guess you will say that I didn't do that??! I also exclaimed to your staff about the loud disco dance DJ in the restaurant/breakfast area which is open to the hotel lobby and reception as I wanted to eat dinner after arriving. Quick tip: hotels where people pay hundreds of euros to sleep must NEVER mix their open areas with loud DJs. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate good music, but I also understand I wouldn't blast it in any hotel with guestrooms and beds.

I find the hotel's high rating unexplainable considering that No, (by hotel staff admission) you can't control or change the room temperature. You are constantly overheated with a temperature control unit that doesn't change, or control. One star deducted.
Location is very good. Not the heart of old town but 5 to 10 muns away walking. You get a star for this.
We were -bizarrely- given a wet room, wheelchair accessible- that turned extremely slippery when wet! I asked to change it due to the fact that it is not what i booked, for the very high price we paid, but told they were fully booked - checked online and I could actually book the same room i made my booking for. Hey hey hey, you guys were caught being not good hoteliers! Management! One star deducted.
Breakfast is an average affair, badly laid out with no sense of why everything was where it is. It had much lower variety and quality than 3* places with much cheaper prices. One star deducted for the overpricing.
Dinner was at the bar restaurant area, but they had a loud DJ so you can't eat or else you will be deaf and have a headache at dinner. Whose idea is this? Management! The disco noise reached our room -and I'm guessing others' too- guys, you don't open a hotel with bedrooms to sleep in while operating a disco. Pick one or another! One star deducted.
Free room bar is 2 soft drinks. This is by far the worst overpromising and underdelivering by any place I've ever been to. I mean, i don't drink or care for alcohol, but guys, don't do that.
As a whole, this place might be a reflection for what Prague has turned into; overpriced tourist trap everywhere, despite some of its nice and decent people. There were many unpleasant things here, but you can see why it is 1/5 stars. You must do better, you have...

We have booked 2 nights planning to leave our daughter with my parents and having some solo time. Because of weather our flight was rerouted and delayed some 5 hours so the timing didn't make sense very late in the evening so we reached out to the hotel if we can change our stay from 1 room for 2 nights to 2 rooms for 1 night and have my parents and us staying there and then travelling onwards together the next day. The front desk staff told us it might be possible but the evening shift doesn't have the competence to make the change so we should speak with a competent person that would be there the next day. Several hours upon arriving the same staff changed their message saying it's actually very unlikely they would be able to make such modification because there are factors like minibar that make this very "different". They continue to inform us that we need to pay in advance the walk-in rate (and since it was now past midnight, we couldn't book a normal rate online) and on top of that told us the competent person they were thinking would be there the next day is actually off.
Following email conversation with management was passive-aggressive pointing to "non-refundable" rate we booked and completely refusing to take accountability for information provided by their staff.
As someone traveling regularly this is not what I expect from a good hotel. If we were told from the start that such favor is unfortunately not possible and they will need to charge us XYZ, then we could make a decision and plan based on that.
Besides that the check-in staff seemed incompetent overall, first person that saw us turned around and walked away with zero communication towards despite we spoke both English and Czech. The second person that came later took probably 20 min to complete the check-in process, it was painfully slow, not recognizing our elite status, I needed to explain my right for a late checkout and complimentary breakfast. Then in the morning at check out, they were trying to charge us the breakfast anyways. The staff at breakfast did not say hello or a word to us, they were busy cleaning up and taking food away in front of our eyes some 30 min before the end of breakfast time.
Overall, decent room and decent looking hotel but service was just a huge concern and not something you would expect from a...
Read moreI very seldom write reviews of places I've visited but really felt I must! This hotel is fantastic. We had gone for our 25th wedding anniversary and were so glad we had chosen this hotel in Prague.||The room was quiet, clean and comfortable with a relaxing atmosphere. Perfect.||The breakfast was delicious with plenty to choose from. We also ate in the hotel on our arrival night and the food and cocktails were lovely. ||The staff were fantastic and couldn't be more helpful! We contacted the hotel prior to our visit and they arranged a taxi to be waiting for us at the airport (approx 40 euros). The breakfast staff were amazing and worked so hard - they had eyes everywhere, making sure all the food was hot and replenished quickly. ||In the evening, we had a drink in the bar and we have to give a special shout out to JAN! He was so friendly, helpful and interesting with a great knowledge of Prague history . Our son is the same age, so it was interesting listening to Jan's stories of daily life in Prague from a young person's point of view - plus he makes a mean cocktail! You are a real credit to the hotel, Jan and it was lovely to speak to you. You also recommended some other Melia hotels to us and told us about the one in Amsterdam and Vienna as we are going to those cities later in the year so we will bear that in mind.||The location is spot on for everywhere in Prague - there are plenty of bars and restaurants around the area so you don't need to venture far at night after a busy day sightseeing . It is easy to get to all the tourist sites you would want to visit -turn right when you come out the hotel, walk straight on for the Old Square, turn right when you come out of the hotel and then turn left towards the museum and the huge shopping mall which we only discovered on our last full day. ||All in all, we would thoroughly recommend this hotel - great room, great staff, great location. No complaints! Thank you Melia Prague. Best wishes. Julie and Bernard . ps our friends have now booked...
