Our group visit to the KGB museum early last year 2023, was one of the special highlights of our Prague holiday. We came across the museum and were lucky to enter at the beginning of the tour. The museum is different to any other museum we have been to because it's more of a walkthrough and interactive experience, and with the owner running the tours it was quite a unique experience. As we are waiting for the tour to start, TV was playing brief history of the KGB time which set the tone nicely for the rest of the tour. During the tour, the owner was very enthusiastic about explaining the KGB, memorabilia, weapons etc. and quite funny at the same time in re-enacting and teaching us how each KGB agent tool was used. To top it off, we were also allowed to take pictures with various weapons and uniforms, that had been used in the past which was a nice touch at the end. Overall, it was a perfect experience for us as we still talk about it to this day, and highly recommend the museum to visit.

What a place. A small, privately owned museum. Only about the size of a 2 bedroom apartment but filled with WWII and cold war memorabilia up to the roof. The owner can only be described as offensively Russian. Wearing his Joseph Stalin T-Shirt to an endless-loop of the Russian National Anthem and videos of the 2015 victory parade. First thing he told me was that there is a lot of "Anti-Russian propaganda" in my country, to which I replied, that my country is too far away from Russia to care much. But anyway. The tour is done enthusiastically, in heavy-accented English, without any clear structure but excellent showmanship. It is the best weird collection of spy gadgets I've ever seen. Real-life James Bond stuff. If you can ignore that fact that his presentation is highly politicized to the point of seeming almost comical, you will have a great time. Props to you, random Russian owner who probably would approve of a restauration of the Soviet Union.

I went there in May, 2023 with my aunt. This little museum is a quirky and funny one. The owner and curator is a very funny person and gives very detailed explanations about the comunist history and also produces some sound effects for the guns, while blasting the Soviet Union Hymn and parade videos. His type of humor may not suit everyone, but if you like history or the theme, you should definetely visit this one! Unfortunately I was with my old aunt who only spoke portuguese and started to feel unwell, so I had to cut short my presence there and could not hear the whole tour, but I really like what I saw and was really happy to learn about all the soviet spy weapons and to be able to take some photos with some real WWII weapons... Not sure the owner will read this, but I was the Brazilian Levitan that stopped by some random day :) Sad to see its temporaly closed, so I wish you all the best and that it reopens as soon as possible! Take Care!

Very entertaining and passionately presented show on Soviet and Nazi military artefacts and history. However, the behaviour of the tour guide was inappropriate in several ways and the show did not present all historical facts correctly.

Pro's: During the show (it's really more a show than a museum), rare and fascinating Militaria (knifes, pistols, rifles, spy gadgets etc.) are presented which you don't get to see often. Great show and very enthusiastically performed live roleplay on how to use these military artefacts to kill people.

Cons: First if all, the prices were not communicated transparently. You have to pay after the show and it's nowhere written how much. (400 per person which is a lot for just one room) The "tour guide" showed Intimidating/aggressive behaviour. He locked the door when people wanted to leave earlier (after just 5 minutes) because the tour guide was clearly glorifying Soviet and Russian state crimes. He forced them to pay the full price and wouldn't let them leave the room. The museum was not really about KGB. The tour guide instead focused on military artefacts and personal stories from friends and family in Soviet military. He played Russian Propaganda on full volume several times during the show without setting it into proper context (he literally cheered at it) and some of the shared 'facts' are at least debatable..

In summary, the museum is not worth the price as you don't learn much more than some fighting techniques. However, you might enjoy the show performed by...

Had a wonderful experience today at this museum! The owner/guide is very kind and was very welcoming. The tour was over an hour long with just the two of us. In this time, we were given a ton of information about everything from the history of the KGB to different kinds of weapons and killing techniques. The guide speaks very passionately, giving demonstrations and fun extra facts based on where you are from! This gave the tour a very personal touch that we loved. He even talks about the experiences of his own family and neighbor! If your English isn't very good you might have some trouble understanding the guide as he has a relatively strong Russian accent but he is also willing to explain further if you don't understand and, in our opinion, it only added to the experience. After the tour we got to walk around on our own and the guide encouraged us to get some pictures taken with the weapons. In the end we spent about 2 hours at the museum.

The museum might be a bit on the pricey side for some, and if you're looking for the traditional formal museum tour this might not be the museum for you. But, if you are looking for an experience that is unique and personal and if you keep an open mind, it is definitely worth the cost! This is a memory of Prague that will definitely stick with us due to the care and passion the guide put...

I visited this museum with my husband who is passionate about history and underground stories, during our trip to Prague. What an amazing experience!!! In the past year, we've seen some remarkable museums and landmarks: Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp (Poland), Parisian Catacombs (France), Museum of Crimes Against Humanity and Genocide (Bosnia and Herzegovina), House of Terror (Hungary), Nuclear Bunkers (Slovakia, Czech Republic), just to name a few - and we still put the KGB museum on top, especially thanks to our guide! A great storyteller, with an extended knowledge of history and historical data. The way that he does the tour is an incredible performance itself - with examples, role play and the music background that just integrates everything altogether and takes you in a unforgettable journey. Is an one hour tour, but I honestly say that I had no idea when the time passed, I could listen to this man for few hours more! If you are traveling to Prague, do yourself a favor and go see this museum. Many thanks to our guide for such an amazing experience, you...
