Very entertaining and passionately presented show on Soviet and Nazi military artefacts and history. However, the behaviour of the tour guide was inappropriate in several ways and the show did not present all historical facts correctly.
Pro's: During the show (it's really more a show than a museum), rare and fascinating Militaria (knifes, pistols, rifles, spy gadgets etc.) are presented which you don't get to see often. Great show and very enthusiastically performed live roleplay on how to use these military artefacts to kill people.
Cons: First if all, the prices were not communicated transparently. You have to pay after the show and it's nowhere written how much. (400 per person which is a lot for just one room) The "tour guide" showed Intimidating/aggressive behaviour. He locked the door when people wanted to leave earlier (after just 5 minutes) because the tour guide was clearly glorifying Soviet and Russian state crimes. He forced them to pay the full price and wouldn't let them leave the room. The museum was not really about KGB. The tour guide instead focused on military artefacts and personal stories from friends and family in Soviet military. He played Russian Propaganda on full volume several times during the show without setting it into proper context (he literally cheered at it) and some of the shared 'facts' are at least debatable..
In summary, the museum is not worth the price as you don't learn much more than some fighting techniques. However, you might enjoy the show performed by...
Read moreHad a wonderful experience today at this museum! The owner/guide is very kind and was very welcoming. The tour was over an hour long with just the two of us. In this time, we were given a ton of information about everything from the history of the KGB to different kinds of weapons and killing techniques. The guide speaks very passionately, giving demonstrations and fun extra facts based on where you are from! This gave the tour a very personal touch that we loved. He even talks about the experiences of his own family and neighbor! If your English isn't very good you might have some trouble understanding the guide as he has a relatively strong Russian accent but he is also willing to explain further if you don't understand and, in our opinion, it only added to the experience. After the tour we got to walk around on our own and the guide encouraged us to get some pictures taken with the weapons. In the end we spent about 2 hours at the museum.
The museum might be a bit on the pricey side for some, and if you're looking for the traditional formal museum tour this might not be the museum for you. But, if you are looking for an experience that is unique and personal and if you keep an open mind, it is definitely worth the cost! This is a memory of Prague that will definitely stick with us due to the care and passion the guide put...
Read moreI visited this museum with my husband who is passionate about history and underground stories, during our trip to Prague. What an amazing experience!!! In the past year, we've seen some remarkable museums and landmarks: Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp (Poland), Parisian Catacombs (France), Museum of Crimes Against Humanity and Genocide (Bosnia and Herzegovina), House of Terror (Hungary), Nuclear Bunkers (Slovakia, Czech Republic), just to name a few - and we still put the KGB museum on top, especially thanks to our guide! A great storyteller, with an extended knowledge of history and historical data. The way that he does the tour is an incredible performance itself - with examples, role play and the music background that just integrates everything altogether and takes you in a unforgettable journey. Is an one hour tour, but I honestly say that I had no idea when the time passed, I could listen to this man for few hours more! If you are traveling to Prague, do yourself a favor and go see this museum. Many thanks to our guide for such an amazing experience, you...
