Being a massive tourist trap, these desserts are indeed something you will want to try once while here. Essentially it is a massive cone-shaped structure that holds whatever filling places in Prague have to offer. The cone tastes exactly like a churro, Cinnamon French toast, or a cinnamon donut. Essentially it is dough that is covered in cinnamon and sugar.
This place was very ok. The lady behind the counter was extremely rude, not seeming to want to serve me and then saying “Read the menu” when I asked her questions about the item since it wasn’t completely in English.
The trdelnik was not fresh, having been picked from a pile sitting out in the back instead of one of the fresh ones being roasted in the front to lure you in. The pastry itself almost seemed a little stale, being hard and not as soft as I would like, while also only having the coating on the outside and not the inside. The inside tasted like plain dough which isn’t inherently bad, but could’ve been better (it might be that all places only cost the outside). The soft serve ice cream was indeed a ton. The entire cone from the bottom to a good inch bast the top was filled with soft serve vanilla. The soft serve was very OK. I use McDonald’s as my soft serve standard (which is delicious whenever you find the rare location that has a machine working to dispense that cold, sugary goodness), and here in Prague, this stall had soft serve that was more icy than I would like and not as creamy. Sure, it still is tasty having a cold sugar and vanilla and milk mixture, but it definitely could’ve been better.
Overall, I would give it a 3.5 or 3.75/5 experience. Definitely try this dessert out while here, but maybe you will find a better stall than I did (there are literally dozens of stalls that I passed by just in a small radius around the hotel we were staying at). Some even do...
Read moreI was here 21/2/2024 around 11:30pm. l am a Korean and there was an European lady(the language she used was not French or German but as far as I assume it was Dutch or Swedish) in front of me and behind me there was a Caucasian white teenager boy. I am describing the situation as precise as I remember because it was the most shocking and horrible experience in my life. It was more than racism. It was much more like humiliating a human-being. I spent about 7 years in the States when I was a young girl so I have no problems communicating in English. Even though I don't speak any Czech language, the people I met during 45days ordering food or shopping always helped me out. I will remember those kind persons. BUT NOT this woman who was to get my order for a strudel trdlo. I can't guess her nationality because it would be an insult to the innocent people. She had curly hairs and light black skin color. And here is what happened! After she finished the order for the European lady in front of me, she just SKIPPED me like I was an invisible person and went up to the teenager behind me! I couldn't believe what was happening in front of me. I said this is so rude and I would order a strudel trdlo. Then she constrainedly packed some strudel inside the trdlo. So I payed and took it. There were several persons in the shop so they all saw this scene for sure. I didn't want to bite a piece of that trdlo but I forced myself to finish my order since I did not want to back off. I threw that away after I came out from the shop. I don't know how it tastes but even if it tastes like heaven I would never ever like to meet such a mean and wicked being in...
Read moreThe service was really bad, especial a woman with a bit age (she was there on Thursday and Saturday night, had twice worse experiences in Prague because of her) 😡😡😡 today I asked her colleague if they have “only icecream” option (without chimney thing), and her colleague said yea how many u want, so it’s quite reasonable I thought they do sell only icecream. Then I saw the prices her colleague typed for only icecream are the same with icecream with chimney cake, so I emphasized again we only want icecream, if u don’t have then I’m gonna request the refund. However the rude woman came, she said to me “we had menu and u should see it carefully” and didn’t want to give money back to me. I was like “hello so that’s the reason I ask u if u have the special menu for “only icecream” isn’t it????” , but only told her “but I asked”. In the end, we got the icecream in a plastic container but pay the same price with those with chimney cake, which is 140 kc. Nearby have many other places where sell chimney cake, don’t buy it here!!! The rude woman should be...
