The location was perfect. Public transport, shops, restaurants and all sightseeing places were on a walking distance.
Unfortunately the service wasn't good. The receptionist was not friendly. Their English is not good, they barely understand what you mean.
I have had contact via email with the hotel about the beds, they told me I would get a king size bed and 1 extra bed, since we booked a room for 3 people. We ended up having 2 single beds next to each other, both mattresses had a different hight so you couldn't lay next to each other. The receptionist told us "the size of the 2 beds together is the same as a king size bed". Which is absolutely crazy, I have never heard of an explanation like that before. They were supposed to change the bedsheets every 3 days, unfortunately we got new bedsheets only once in 8 days/7 nights. 1 day housekeeping didn't even make up the beds.
The rooms are spacious and nice. But very noisy; you can hear the neighbours above you walk. And when the neighbours next door have a good laugh, you can clearly hear that.
They mention a nespresso machine to enjoy a cup of coffee in your room; they don't mention you only get 3 capsules for free. If you want more, you have to buy them yourself. You can buy them at the reception for 30CZK or €1,- per piece, which is very expensive. You can better go to a supermarket close by. I have been to a lot of places where you have a kettle or a coffee machine in your room, but they give you new coffee and tea bags every day after cleaning.
Breakfast was okay, unfortunately the girls barely speak English and there are no descriptions of the items they serve for breakfast. So you don't always know what it is, especially when it comes to products which contain meat. Couples sit at tables for 4-6 people, instead of sitting at a table for 2. Nobody keeps an eye on that. So when it's busy you end up not having a place to sit, if you're with more than 2 people.
And in our room for 3 persons, you find only two chairs. I took one, which was unused in de hallway, close to our room. And told the receptionist what I did. He got angry, was very rude, and told me to put it back. He promised me he would not tell anybody what I did. Later on, via another receptionist, that same chair was placed in our room. Not service...
Read moreAfter arriving at the hotel we left our luggage without any problem at around 9am. We were told to come back at around 2.30pm because the rooms were not ready. Ok, understandable. And we went sightseeing. After returning, the room was not fully prepared for the arrival of the guests, i.e. it was not cleaned thoroughly, dirty on the mirrors and a lot of dust on the mirror walls, it was certainly not one-day dust, because it is dusty/close to the street. It was simply not cleaned thoroughly or checked. - everything was very visible on the black: mirror surfaces.(but the next day it looked much better )I do not know why the room stank of cigarette smoke in the evenings, the smell came from the bathroom, maybe someone was smoking in other rooms?! - we did not report it, now I think we should. breakfast: small selection of food but very tasty fresh bread, cold cuts, cheeses and fresh donuts. I had the impression that the service did not keep up with the delivery of food (one person for about 20/30 guests) juices, apple/orange juice to water ratio was too small juices were tasteless. for sure no one will leave hungry because you can find something for yourself and eat. the best advantage of this hotel is its excellent location, everything is very close. despite the minor inconveniences I would...
Read moreVery central location... Couldn't be happier with it. Everything is close by and even if you choose to go afar the public transport network is outstanding.
The hotel is quite small and old so be prepared for a musty smokers smell despite it being clean. Room decor is an odd choice of black everywhere which makes light switches invisible! The bed frame was a bit squeaky but the mattress comfortable and we slept well.
An email before the trip requesting a quiet room allocation if possible was fulfilled (thank you Tereza) and we had 503 on the top floor. Very quiet and no problem with street noise. Staff were friendly and always available but we didn't need anything. After checkout they will store your baggage securely if you have a long time before heading off to the airport.
Bathroom was fine with good water pressure in the shower and toiletries provided. Towels old but clean and changed daily.
The included breakfast looked basic but actually there is plenty of choice. The problem is if you enjoy your breakfast you risk being too full for the plethora of eateries the Prague has to offer.
Beer is another topic altogether. Suffice to say you will enjoy staying at the Perla and we will definitely have it at the top of our list when we return to his...
