The ribs were great, but the whole experience was tainted by how poor the level of service was. I booked online for 8pm advising this was a special occasion and was our first wedding anniversary. We arrived on time at 8pm, telling them I had a booking and we were sat in the bar next door on a high up bar style table. Nobody approached us or even gave us a menu until we called someone over 15 minutes later. I asked whether this was the main restaurant and they said it must be full if they sat us in here, I would have had to book to be in there. I explained I had and the person questioned whether I told the door staff this, to which I explained yes, but he didn’t even look for a booking. he was unsure and went to speak to the guy on the door. He returned and said we can go back to the door and wait for a table but he doesn’t know when we will get one. We got up and went to the door, hoping there would be an improved level of service in the restaurant, but I was wrong. The guy at the door did not check if we had a booking and took us in to a table. It was a further 15 minutes until a waitress approached us to order any drinks or food, we’re now 35 minutes in to our booking. We must have been 50 minutes into our booking before drinks arrived and over an hour into our booking before food arrived. As I’m pregnant, I ordered a ginger tea to help with my nausea. They bought me a mint tea twice, we were over half way through my meal before the right tea arrived. We ordered the BBQ ribs which were a lovely sweet flavour and we had some pulled pork tacos which were also very nice. No complaints about the food. The waitress serving us was miserable and constantly avoiding eye contact so it was very difficult to get her attention. It even took around 15 minutes to get her attention to ask for the bill. There aren’t enough staff in there, so many people were sat waiting and huffing a puffing. The couple next to us were waiting around 15 minutes just to be given a menu and were visibly frustrated as It took the waitress a long time to return again. A table of 6 were sat on the other side of us and were kept waiting even longer than us for food and drinks, but arrived before us, they were also visibly frustrated, showing exasperation when our things arrived before theirs, even though they’d asked first (I can only assume this is because we were a much smaller table, but they had a very long wait). It’s a real shame because the service and overall experience was such a let down, it ruined a special occasion for us. I would not want to come back. Im not sure whether they were just short staffed last night, or whether this is a regular occurrence, as I was very surprised given the positive...
Read moreWe enjoyed Ribs of Prague.
We saw Ribs of Prague as we passed it on our way to something else and decided to come back at lunch time to try it out.
We arrived about 1 pm on a rainy Saturday. We were asked if we had a reservation. We did not. We were seated right away. It looks like they can seat about 200 people here. It looked to be about 75% full.
As the restaurant was pretty busy, the noise level was up there. I’d call it ‘moderate’.
There were menus at the table and a small advert with a QR code for the menu as well as the SSID (I Love Ribs) for their WiFi and the password (88888888). We studied the menu and made our choices. Just then, the waiter came by for our drink order. As we we ready to order our meal, he took the entire order.
We shared the following:
2 Coke Zeros 1000g of Pork Spare Ribs with BBQ Sauce, Melted Butter and Coleslaw Coal Potato (baked potato) with Sour Cream and Garlic Lavash (3 slices of toasted bread) with Melted Butter
The Cokes came right away and the food followed about 10 minutes later.
So 1000 grams of Pork Spare Ribs is a full rack. We ate about half and took the other half back to our apartment. The ribs were good. We’re from Texas and we prefer slow smoked ribs. These weren’t that, but they were tender and had a good grill crust on them. Other than bare, there were 3 or 4 sauce choices. The Honey Mustard one looked good on someone’s plate. We had the regular (red) BBQ sauce. The ribs were tender as well.
The Coal Potato was a traditional baked potato but one that has just been set in the coals to cook. No foil wrap. It’s served cut in half lengthwise and filled with Sour Cream with Garlic and a side of Melted Butter. It was pretty good. Be careful handling the skin as your fingers will turn black from the charcoal.
We didn’t try the Bread as we were full. We brought it home to eat later.
We also didn’t try the Coleslaw. It was a tiny portion and it was made with red cabbage and maybe mayo. Not sure.
We were in and out in about 50 minutes. If you’re looking for some meat, I can recommend...
Read moreI don't know whether the food at this place is good or not, but my friend and I were so upset that we left the restaurant without even trying it. First of all, while my friend and I were still looking at the menu, the waiter (the man in the picture) came over to ask what we wanted. We told him we needed more time, and then he asked if we wanted any drinks. We said no, and he immediately put on a very impatient face, turned his head away, and walked off. Regardless of whether this was racism, there was absolutely no basic courtesy. At this point, my friend and I were already quite angry.
Later, when my friend and I had chosen what we wanted to order, we asked the waitress standing next to us (the woman in the picture). She said we needed to wait for another waiter to come. So, we waited for a while (we had already been waiting for over ten minutes by this time). I can understand that the restaurant might be busy and couldn't serve customers right away, but from my perspective, that male waiter kept making eye contact with me but didn't come over to take our order. The waitress was also walking around without telling us what was going on or how much longer we needed to wait. It was very obvious that we were signaling for help, which is really not the level of service expected in the hospitality industry. After getting fed up with waiting, I went directly to another waiter, who said we had to wait for a specific waiter to take our order— the same male waiter in the picture. He never came to take our order, clearly doing it on purpose.
Finally, my friend and I were so angry that we left the restaurant without eating and took this picture. I'm not trying to start any kind of racial discrimination war, but the experience at this restaurant was...
