We chose this restaurant as it has good reviews from your site….however, we are very disappointed with the service of one particular waitress in this restaurant. The waiter who showed us to our table was fine, courteous n professional. However the waitress who took our orders was not happy that I’m sharing food n drinks with hubby (we r watching our weight n just had trdl the traditional Prague ice cream, etc) while son has his own meal. When my son ordered Schnitzel, without clarifying that addition of fries is extra cost, she just asked him whether he wanted fries or something else… as my son is on protein diet, he would not have ordered the fries if it cost extra … he said ok because he thought it was included in the cost. Being on protein, diet, my son also preferred water which we brought. However she kinda curtly told us that we cannot drink from our own bottle when she saw us bringing out the water bottle although when we were ordering we clarified that my hubby n I will share a drink while son will drink our own water. At the end, when we wanted to pay, no one was around, so I went to the front n met her n hence ask her for the bill … ready to go back to my table…unlike most similar places we visit where the waiter/waitress will bring the bill to you, she asked me to go to where she is to pay… which seemed unusual. When I did, she explained that it is normal for us to pay a 10% for their service. For other similar restaurants, it was optional, although we would always include the tip. Although I was not happy with her service, I agreed to the extra 10% service/tip. Usually, in other restaurants we visited, we can press the % of service charge we would like to give. But here, after explaining… she went onto add something n then have me scan my credit card to pay. Then she said that’s all. When my hubby asked for the receipt, she reluctantly said ‘you have to wait’. So we waited… but as you can see from the bill n credit card receipt attached, the final cost is more than 10% (800kr) of the bill (692kr). Such sneaky n dishonest behaviour of this waitress should not be tolerated… either she cannot count or she thinks that we Asian tourists...

I have had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant U Provaznice four times now, and each visit has been an absolute delight. This establishment has consistently exceeded my expectations, making it one of my favorite dining spots in town.

The standout feature of Restaurant U Provaznice is undoubtedly their exceptional duck meal. I've tried a variety of dishes on their menu, but the duck has left an indelible impression on my taste buds. The succulent, perfectly cooked duck, paired with rich and flavorful sauces, is a culinary masterpiece that keeps me coming back for more. It's not an exaggeration to say that it's the best duck dish I've ever had in Prague.

The staff at Restaurant U Provaznice are another reason why I keep returning. Their attentiveness is truly remarkable. One thing that particularly stood out to me was their promptness in refilling drinks. Whether it was water, wine, or beer, the staff made sure our glasses were never empty, ensuring a seamless dining experience.

What sets this restaurant apart, in addition to the fantastic food and attentive service, is the consistent quality across multiple visits.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a restaurant that consistently delivers outstanding food, attentive service, and a warm ambiance, Restaurant U Provaznice should be at the top of your list. The exceptional duck dish and the staff's dedication to ensuring a great dining experience have made me a loyal patron, and I look forward to many more visits in the...

We recently enjoyed an absolutely delightful meal that showcased the heart and soul of traditional Central European cuisine. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with a rustic wooden table setting that added to the charm of the dining experience. It felt like the perfect place to settle in for a hearty meal with good company.

The highlight of the lunch was undoubtedly the roasted pork knuckle. It was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside with tender, flavorful meat on the inside. Served with rich, savory gravy and accompanied by creamy horseradish and mustard, it delivered a wonderful balance of textures and flavors. Alongside it were soft dumplings and tangy red cabbage, classic pairings that added a comforting touch to the dish.

We also had a plate of roasted baby potatoes that were golden and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. Another standout was the ribs platter—juicy, fall-off-the-bone meat glazed in a smoky sauce and served with refreshing coleslaw and dips that added a creamy contrast.

To complete the meal, a basket of fresh artisan bread was served—ideal for soaking up all the delicious sauces and gravies. From start to finish, the meal felt authentic, satisfying, and rich in flavor.

Overall, this was a wonderful culinary experience that we would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys hearty, traditional meals. The generous portions, rich flavors, and warm ambiance made it a truly memorable...

The Worst Experience in Prague: Obliged Tip ! I ordered one beer and one dish (a quarter of duck), which came to a total of 436 CZK. However, when I went to pay the bill, the waiter insisted that a tip of 10% was “obligatory” in Prague and asked me to pay 500 CZK instead. First of all, 436 CZK * (1 + 10%) equals 479.6 CZK, not 500 CZK. Secondly, tipping is certainly not obligatory in Prague. As someone who travels frequently within Europe, I’ve never encountered a situation where tipping is enforced in Prague. It’s entirely up to the customer to decide if they want to leave a tip based on the quality of the food and service. What happened next was completely unprofessional: when I refused to pay this so-called “compulsory service charge,” several times, the waiter simply pressed a button on the payment terminal and handed it to me. Afterward, he threw the receipt at me without a word. This behavior is not acceptable. Lastly, I do want to mention that I am of Asian descent, and I am left wondering whether this type of treatment is reserved only for Asian customers. I will be sharing this experience on platforms popular in the Asian community as well, so others can be informed. You deserve it.
