The "Harrods" of Helsinki. Eight floors of everything you can reasonably need with helpful service staff (they wear nametags with flags representing languages spoken to assist you!). Stockmann in Helsinki's core probably doesn't have the lowest sticker prices around, but they make up for that in service and quality. Before the restaurant renovations, my favorite thing was to pop into the bakery section on the ground level and see what the locals were buying so I could taste the authentic treats. Nowadays, you can head downstairs to the food floor which received a big upgrade after the sale to S Group in 2017. They have an amazing selection when you are looking for rare and premium items. My favourite feature is the Fazer cafe on the 8th floor which serves fantastic lunch items and dessert plates. The cafe is sunlit and without any hectic atmosphere. Once you pass the friendly cashier it's a perfect place for a quiet lunch. There is also a table service dining room, a food buffet and a champagne bar to boot. Worth heading upstairs and exploring the quiet corners. I still haven't managed to find the old-fashioned elevator without any doors!

As a child I used to visit Stockmann with my friends. Especially the toy department was a tempting place to spend time and to wonder and test the newest toys. Some years later the music department and the neighbour house's book store were important places to do findings, and finally Stockmann's delicacy (food) department was the best place to buy the most delicious cheeses. Thus, Stockmann with its Academic Bookstore has had its place in my life, and it was somehow exciting to visit there after many years. And after yesterday's Mall of Tripla mess, Stockmann as a traditional department store feels so clear and easy. Almost 100 years old Stockmann is an interesting trip to more traditional shopping centre culture.

A truly magnificent array of shops, restaurants, and services on 8 large floors -plus the basement- of a grand old and ancient red and brown brick building . It reminds one of the greatest old USA all purpose grand department stores of yesteryear in America; think the original NYC's Macy's or Gimbels, Detroit's J.L.Hudsons , Chicago's Marshall Fields , and other titans of yesteryear in that nation that, sadly, gave way to tacky suburban malls with their free parking all across the urban and suburban landscapes there. Stockmanns of Helsinki is a throwback to the days where all types of shopping could be enjoyed under 1 building' s magnificent roof. Here, one can be dazzled with the finest quality products and many of the world's top end brands in clothing, interior design items, fine china , and other top end kitchen items, interior house items , beds, furniture, lamps, ...as well as the best quality clothes and shoes from major worldwide brands...Yes, it seems fo have it all, from cosmetics,to fine dining restaurants,to ticket services to events, postal , currency exchange, candy, pastries, cakes, cookies, purses, wallets, luggage, baskets, flowers, plants, jackets, coats, sportcoats, suits, and so much, much more.If you need a haircut, or your hsir styled hair colored and styled,a manicure or pedicure ... or just something nice to eat 8n a wonderful environment, then this place is the place to go as it seemingly has it all. Stockmanns is a revered and venerable business in Finland and it's flagship original store there has been in this architecturally splendid building since the 1930s and it is so old that the business existed elsewhere up the street for years before it made its big move to its present location in the very heart of the Helsinki 's city center .Any planned trip to Helsinki by tourists would be wise to include a visit to this grand dame of the ultimate shopping experience. It is that special with a well trained, highly professional , polite , caring staff and other workers that serve the customers in a variety of ways throughout the entire building and which results in a truly ...

I stayed at a hotel right across from Stockmann, and it was amazing. I love this place. I wish America had a one stop shop like this. This place has just about everything that your heart desires.

It's 8 levels (technically more) of everything you need to shop for. There is an electronic department, a grocery store, a pet store, tons of restaurants, clothing and accessories, for women, men and children. They have a beauty department, there is a bakery, sushi, and coffee shops.

I came here multiple times while visiting Helsinki, it was also one of few places that were open on Good Friday, which was a saving grace because we were able to come here and stalk up on food for dinner and snacks. Since everything was closed or closing early. They weren't open on Easter Sunday, but they were open on Easter Monday. The grocery store doesn't have everything the other normal groceries have, but they also have other things that other stores do not carry. If you are from the US, I would compare this to like a Whole Foods.

I didn't do much clothing shopping or accessory shopping as most things are fairly more expensive than in the US. I did take a browse through the Longchamp area and they had an amazing deal on the bags as compared to the US. But there was no one to assist me and I wanted a larger bag than the ones they had out. I wasn't able to get any help there though, and attempted to go to the actual Longchamp boutique down the street but they were closed since it was Easter Monday. So I'm not sure I would rate the shopping a 5 star....

But from the bakery and the grocery store and all the food options I rate this place a 5! Great finds and tons of things to buy. The bakery upstairs and downstairs was great. They have these little pizza things which are amazing and a flat bread rollup thing also amazing. I really enjoyed the macarons as well. The people in the bakery were super nice and helpful.

I would definitely come back if I find myself in Finland and I would recommend this be a stop for others who are visiting as well. I'm sure a ton of locals go...

Stockmann Helsinki Centre is a culturally significant business building and department store located in the centre of Helsinki, Finland. It is one of many department stores owned by the Stockmann corporation. It is the largest department store in the Nordic countries in terms of area and total sales. The store is known for carrying all the internationally recognised luxury brands, and Stockmann's enjoys a reputation as the primary high-end department store in Finland. Stockmann Delicatessen, the food and beverage department located at the basement level, is renowned for the quality and choice of its foodstuffs. The Stockmann logo represents a set of escalators, which are commonly, but wrongly believed represent the first escalators in Finland. The first escalators in Finland were installed in the Forum department store, Turku (1926)

2017, Stockmann Helsinki Centre was the fifth largest department store in Europe with area of 50,500 square meters.

Especially the clock at the main entrance, colloquially "Stockan kello" ("Stocka's clock"), has become a symbol of Helsinkian city culture as a popular meeting place

competition for the department store in 1916. The Thomé brothers were killed in the Finnish Civil War. The building was built in 1930, and the task was then given to Sigurd Frosterus who had been on the second place in the original competition. The department store was designed in nordic Art Deco style. It is part of the Gazelle block in the district of Kluuvi. The new expansion of the building is based on Sigurd...
