Quietly tucked away in the 16th Arrondissement of Paris is the former "atelier" of world renowned designer Yves Saint Laurent. Having just opened its doors to the public as a Museum in September 2017 and off the museum "beaten track" it presents the feel of an intimate visit into the mind of YSL himself. I highly recommend purchasing a ticket online prior to your visit. You will save yourself a tedious wait in what looked to be quite a long line on my recent visit in early January. Once inside, do yourself a favor and take the time to watch at least some of the video displays for "behind the scenes" captivating information about YSL's clients. The exhibit will take your breath away. There is no better word to describe it other than "magnificent". I was on Cloud 9 as I floated out the exit door. Kick around the neighborhood too and you'll be surprised to find yet another museum that's under the radar (Palais Galliera), plus there are cafés, brasseries and patisseries overflowing with locals and museum visitors in the nearby neighborhood. Allow a minimum of 2 hours in the exhibit (crowd dependent) and be aware it's on multiple levels with plenty of stairs, though there may be an elevator available as it is stated on the website "the museum is accessible for the...
Read moreI purchased a free ticket for unemployed people. On the website it says everyone in possession of an unemployed card can have access to it but that's untrue. At the door a rude guy refused to take me it saying only for unemployed French people. It doesn't have any sense it is in English and does not accept foreigners with those documents... I feel it's a kind of fraud as you have to pay once in there. It is not very costly but sadly not worth it. I don't recommend the visit as there is only few dresses not the most representatives from YSL... go to Dior or D&G they really worth the price and my recommendation to YSL museum change the information on your site to not misslead people... if only French people can have access to free tickets don't put that in English to confuse people. The only dresses are the ones on the photos attached ...as I said, not worth it. Also all the dresses you see that people saw previous years are not...
Read moreThe studio was the highlight of this museum, and of this 60th anniversary exhibition, IMO. I adored the desk and all the objects on view, sort of allowing the viewers to envision the personality and temperament of their owner. From this exhibit, I learned a few new things about YSL as a person and a designer, which was why I’d still recommend a visit here, despite some desirable improvements. Timed entry slots were in place, yet still a bit crowded for this venue. The exhibit route was absolutely confusing, no map, no clear direction sign. I almost missed the entire 2nd floor, where the studio was located. The film screening room on the 1st floor was constantly with queue along the stairs. I just took a photo of the 10-min film and hope to find it later online. The x3 video displays on the -1 floor were also in front of often squeezed viewers. It was these small details that left me slightly disappointed upon...
