Paris Century-Old Restaurant Le George V Review 🏛️✨
Alexandra RusuAlexandra Rusu
I went there with a friend about 4 weeks ago! I asked the waiter if he can recommend something and he answered " I don't know . What do you want?" I asked him again after 5 min if he recommend the risotto with fish or the fries with fish to witch again he replies with" What do you want? " after like 20 25 minutes the food comes. The order was wrong and I said I order rice and not fries ro with his reaction was super rude. He said he will bring me rice and literally took the fries with the hand out of my plate . After another 10 minutes the rice comes and the salmon was very cold already. The rice was basmati rice boiled. No salt or other condiments and not to mention it was in no way rissoto like specified in the menu! At that point I was greatly dissapointed not only about the food but the service was super rude. Beside that they also put one extra pasta on the bill that we hadn't ordered. One of the waiter that I talked was very nice and I asked him if he can help us further and he agreed . That one waiter was probably the only decent and kind waiter that was working there. The first waiter apologised at the end . Maybe it was because we were tourists or we were speaking English. I don't know but for me it was a big dissapointment . 10 out of 10 would not recommend.

Located smack bang in between the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe - the location doesn’t get much better than this. We were dubious about trying this place at first as it looks like a typical tourist trap. But after consulting Google reviews we took the plunge and gave it a try - and we’re glad we did. We sat outside in the evening and it is a quintessentially Parisian atmosphere. I ordered the XXL Entrecôte steak (medium rare) with frites alongside peppercorn and bernaise sauce and I was not disappointed. My fiancé meanwhile opted for the pumpkin soup to start and she said it was amongst the best she’d ever had. She also had the Caesar salad which was very tasty with an abundance of cheese but only had 4 pieces of chicken in the entire dish. The price for food and drinks was average for the area. The food isn’t trying to re-invent the wheel but it is very tasty, reasonably priced (for the area) and a lovely romantic spot to enjoy a few hours and watch the world go by. If you are looking for a classic Parisian style french bistro experience then you could do far worse than going to Le George V.

We stopped by for a dinner on a Friday two weeks ago. The prices are very reasonable and about $5 Euro/plate less than the bistros near the river.

First, the wait staff was super! We arrived about 7:30 PM, and we could choose our outside table. It filled up quickly. We started with a couple of Stella Artois beers and the cheese assortment tray and delicious freshly baked bread. We asked for additional bread and it was offered kindly.

We decided to share the New York steak for dinner. When arrived, the chef had split the steak, and offered two whole sides of salads and potatoes. We suspected we were going to be charged for two dinners, and the staff said, "Absolutely not, that is a shared dinner."

We might suggest the steak was a little chewy by American standards, but very tasty. Salad, potatoes, and the huge cheese assortments were outstanding.

Finishing dinner at 9 PM, allowed us time to walk to the Pont de l'Alma Bridge for observing the lighted Eifel Tower. We will give this bistro 5 stars for the food and service. We highly recommend and look forward to...
