We visited this place today after a very long, hot day in the sun, just to have drinks. Immediately when we approached the restaurant, the waiter ignored us. He seated another group right in front of us and then continued waiting tables leaving us standing there. He very clearly saw us and knew we were waiting to be seated. My partner had to go nearly inside to chase him and ask permission to sit after standing there for about 3-4 embarrassing mins. When we sat, he did not take our order. I can only assume he has an issue with black customers as two other tables with black customers were ignored for a while as well, after being seated. Finally a much lovelier waitress came to take our order, she brought the drinks quickly and was polite. We had ordered two cocktails, and a juice blend. Two of our drinks looked the same, but she couldn’t recall which had the alcohol and which didn’t, so we just tasted them to make sure. The only problem was that the cocktails that were meant to have alcohol had so little that they tasted 100% Virgin and despite having ice, we’re not very cold. While the cocktails aren’t particularly expensive, there’s no excuse for them to taste like some warm mystery juice. While it’s widely known that Paris is not a top destination for excellent or innovative cocktails (with exceptions of course) it would be a great idea for the staff here to at least be attentive if they cannot provide decent drinks. And not that it’s their fault, but that street is notoriously noisy, polluted and not particularly scenic. I would avoid, even if you are as desperate as we were for something refreshing and pleasant. I will be honest though, the water was great, cold, fresh, hopefully the horrible male waiter...
Read moreTourist trap, with hidden trap. Salads were particularly good, compared with other places. Clearly overpriced, as everywhere in Paris, but when you are hungry you don't look at that.
Prices are as everywhere expressed without taxes (+ 10% for food, and + 20% for any liquor).
Staff was looking friendly, I spoke French so maybe that helped a little, but as soon as I spoke English with my wife they probably noticed we were tourist.
Finding locals and businessmen in this place made us think it was not a complete scam, but then we came to the bill...
The waiter gives us the shocking total, and when I give him almost the exact money, needed 2 euro change, he look at me and told me literally "But service is not included" and put the money back on the table... say what???
We should have taken the money back and leave, probably. On the spot, I just left a 10 I had in my pocket (around 6% of the total) that the waiter said that "it was ok"...
Of course in Paris you pay the name of the city, but careful to these kind of places.
It was tastier than average Parisian restaurant/café for us, but it might be a...
Read moreWould give 0 stars if I could. We wanted to eat a quick lunch there and, despite numerous empty unreserved tables, we were left waiting and ignored at the entrance for 15 minutes after an initial promise to come back to us by a waitress who then proceeded to walk by us multiple times. We finally asked another server for a table, who placed us immediately - we were then asked to stand up again just minutes later by yet another waiter because they had not communicated that we had been placed there. We were given menus - and then ignored for yet another 15 minutes, until we decided to just leave out of sheer indignation. It felt like we were being judged by our looks - we were both dressed quite simply, and with the expectation that we would not spend a lot of money, we were then just ignored. Besides, it seems to be outrageously expensive to dine there. Horrible service, horrible prices - can’t say anything about the food though, because we were not attended :) would...
