You have nice shops therefore I grant 2 stars. But try to find the bathroom in this place! You will see others along with you having the same problem, due to improper signs, you climb the wrong steps and what you will see on the stairs found on the sides of the building!!! STRONG smell of urine and dirty toilet paper thrown on the steps? And believe me I have seen my share of dirty toilets, but peeing on the stairs inside the biggest mall in Budapest? Finally, you get to find the bathroom if you insist and you will feel as you are back to communism. You have to pay to pee in the only toilets in the whole mall at two paying Machines full of people around them who respect no line order. After you pay 200 Forints, you get a ticket that needs to be scanned to enter. However the toilet is so small that people exiting the toilet do it on your own scanning time, and you cannot enter the bathroom anymore with the same ticket, only the Toilet Guard can do this. So you paid the bathroom for nothing. You enter and there is another line where you have to wait for 10-12 persons inside. You don't have room to wash your hands because of the inside line of people. Than of course you have to stay in line again to be able to get out of the toilet. How cheap can you be to ask again for money for a sad experience, do this to people who spend their hard earned money in your building? The restaurants do not have toilets as well, why is it legal to have such a large space, the most important mall in the capital, with no free bathroom to use? Will you spend those 200 forints and assign a guard for the side stairs where people pee? There are thousands of tourists, you can fix the "toilet problem" and still...
Read moreI recently visited Westend Mall in Budapest and was deeply disappointed with the experience, particularly concerning the baby care facilities. As a parent traveling with an 10 month-old, I find it unacceptable in 2024 that we are asked to pay to change a baby’s diaper and to breastfeed in toilets, especially when many modern establishments provide proper baby care rooms free of charge.
Upon entering the paid facility, I was shocked to find it in terrible condition. The room smelled unpleasant, there was no soap available for hygiene, and the overall cleanliness was poor. This is simply unacceptable, especially given recent legislation supporting breastfeeding rooms for mothers in companies.
To make matters worse, the three security staff present not only failed to provide any assistance but also made rude and sarcastic comments when we inquired whether we really had to pay to care for our baby. This behavior is highly unprofessional and disrespectful.
For comparison, I also visited Arena Mall, where the toilets are free, clean, and even equipped with disposable paper for the baby changing pad—something that was sorely lacking at Western Mall.
This is my second visit to Budapest, and I must say, I have found the general culture to be unwelcoming and unfriendly. Many people I encountered seemed unwilling to speak English or respond politely, with interactions often feeling cold...
