A friend and I booked the 9-day Annapurna Base Camp trek via Poon Hill through MTA Trekking in early December. It was, without a doubt, one of the best experiences of my life. When booking through MTA, you are in more than good hands – I can’t stress this enough.

I’m an avid traveler but had never been to Nepal, nor had I attempted anything as physically adventurous as this. Once I made the reservation, I quickly realized none of this would be a problem, as I was contacted via text by Bijay, who generously answered any questions or concerns I had.

To call Bijay service-oriented would be an understatement. He’s kind, knowledgeable, responsive, detail-oriented, trustworthy, humble, all while having a great sense of humor and zest for life. I had already booked connecting flights to Pokhara from Kathmandu, as well as hotels, but Bijay kindly asked if we needed assistance with any of this. However, as soon as I arrived in Nepal, I was messaged by Bijay, who arranged a taxi to my hotel (along with every other taxi I took throughout this adventure).

The day we arrived in Pokhara, we met Bijay for dinner to discuss the next 9 days, as well as pick his brain about the beautiful country of Nepal. The following morning, he met us at our hotel and took us to a rental shop for hiking gear, making sure we were fully prepared.

Once we were ready to go, we met our guide, Prakash. If you’re putting your life into someone’s hands, Prakash is your guy! Right from the get-go, he made us feel welcome and assured me that we had made the right decision.

Over the next several days, Prakash guided us through a breathtaking journey across Nepal’s diverse landscapes, leading us to the heart of the Annapurna massif at just over 4,000 meters. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but just be aware you’re about to experience lush forests, terraced fields, charming villages, and eventually alpine valleys and towering peaks. Through all of this, Prakash took us under his wing, providing extreme care and encouragement.

Whether it was navigating challenging trails, sharing insights about the local culture, or ensuring we were well-acclimatized and comfortable, Prakash made every step of the journey smoother and more rewarding. His familiarity with the region, along with his warmth and professionalism, turned an already stunning trek into an unforgettable experience.

On our descent from Annapurna Base Camp, my friend, who I was traveling with, had an unfortunate leg injury. Given the nature of this trek, these things can happen. He tried his hardest to make it down the rest of the way, but the pain was too much for him. Prakash presented all of our options, and we agreed to stay at the closest tea house and catch an emergency helicopter back to Pokhara the next morning. This wasn’t the outcome we wanted, but life happens, and MTA facilitated the entire rescue. Bijay, again, took care of everything and, lo and behold, showed up in the rescue helicopter the next morning.

Once we arrived back in Pokhara, Bijay took my friend to the hospital to be examined while I eagerly got to my hotel room for some much-needed rest. Later that evening, we met Bijay one last time for dinner to thank him and talk about the incredible journey we had just experienced.

So, as you can probably tell, not only would I highly recommend MTA Trekking to anyone considering hiking in Nepal, but I’m also already looking forward to the next time I decide it’s time to return. Bijay and Prakash will be my team.

Thank you, from the bottom...

Our three-week Nepal trip was like something out of a dream. We’d spent ages listing all the things we wanted to do, from trekking to temple hopping, and tossed the whole lot over to Bijay and his team at MTA Trekking. They didn’t just take our ideas—they ran with them, mixing in their own insider tips we hadn’t even thought of, making this epic, tailor-made plan that hit every spot we wanted.

From start to finish, this team were incredible. They made everything so smooth and stress-free, from the chaos of Kathmandu to the chilled-out vibes of Pokhara and the wilds of Chitwan. Every detail was sorted, right down to real-time tweaks for when we got inspired on the go. It didn’t matter if we wanted to dive into a random alley in Kathmandu or head out early for sunrise at Poon Hill; Bijay and his crew were always there, ready to adjust, never missing a beat.

The moment we landed, someone was there to greet us, every single time. And if we wanted to shake things up, they’d flex and fit our plans without a single complaint. There was this perfect balance between feeling totally prepped and still having that wild spark of adventure.

And it wasn’t just the big stuff. Whether it was a once-in-a-lifetime Everest flight, white-water rafting, or even meeting up with a friend’s family, MTA made it all happen seamlessly. We got to experience Nepal in such an authentic way, with everything from zip lining to jungle safaris woven in like clockwork. The whole trip was like one continuous thrill ride, all thanks to their organisation.

Now, I’m usually the first to hunt down the best deals myself, but the prices MTA got us were unbeatable. For every activity, hotel, and ride, they got us rates that I couldn’t match no matter how hard I tried.

If you’re after an adventure that’s as well-crafted as it is unforgettable, go with MTA Trekking. It was way more than just a holiday—it was the experience of a...

Just finished our 4 day Poon Hill trek with MTA and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Our guide Santosh was absolutely fantastic, nothing was ever too much trouble for him and he used his years of trekking experience to provide us with the best possible trip. Santosh went above and beyond for us, making sure we were always comfortable, that were staying in the best accommodation and in the rooms that had the best views of the mountains! Thanks to this I was able to experience the most breathtaking views that I’ve seen in my life and will remember forever.

Santosh has great friendships and is respected by the people who live in the mountains and own the tea rooms. This is testament to his great character and meant we were always treated with the upmost kindness and respect and that the hosts were as well! I was struggling physically on the third day of the trip so Santosh was able to provide us with an alternative route that was less intense and meant I was able to get some rest and recover. He really made sure we were always safe, healthy and looked after us from start to finish. We will always treasure our time with Santosh and highly recommend him - make sure you request him for your next trip!

MTA as a whole are a fantastic company! From the moment we booked they reached out to us to let us know everything that we will need and how we can prepare for the trip. We also had a problem with some bus tickets that we booked ourselves online before we arrived in Nepal. When I contacted MTA for advice on this they were so so helpful and booked us a new set of tickets straight away that were even cheaper than our original tickets that we booked online! We were contacted throughout to make sure we got to our destinations safely and they were happy to give us any advice we needed.

Thank you so much MTA for providing us the experience...
