Ordered the smoked chicken ravioli, came with side salad. The ambiance is great - love the view and the fireplace but there are many areas for improvement. The ravioli came out very quickly and was clearly pre-made. The side salad (pic) had zero toppings / flavor. Typical Mediterranean salad doesn't have dressing but does have seasoning (Greek seasoning is a mix and amazing). The salad was just slightly wet lettuce and one tomato slice. If I'm on a trek, this is great. If I'm paying 800 to 1000 rupees for dish I expect more. That's not to say this bad overall, it's just bad value. Lastly I wanted to get dessert, but my waiter just left? So someone else took my plate and I sat here for while trying to get someone's attention for quite some time (employees smoking shisha /talking). In that time I wrote this review. Not a bad place (has lots of positives, loved the Christmas music!), but I won't be returning because it is bad value in terms of both local restaurants and western restaurants (some Western Restaurants are 50 to 80 percent cheaper with better food in my opinion).
Edit Response: I am not talking about shacks, but western restaurants such as Roadhouse, nearby Caffè Concerto, and several other western style cafes. Your food was not bad per se (not memorable), just value wise was poor because of the expenses. The cake after additional tax was almost 400 NPR. There are amazing bakeries that sell better cake for 100 NPR. I could not recommend, there's positives, but better options extremely close nearby. If you look at the majority of my reviews you will see I give 4s and 5s. I am level 7 guide (lots of submissions). One man's unbiased opinion, my...
Read moreOn 22 Sep 2023, I chose MED5 restaurant to entertain my wife's youngest sister and four daughters. I read on one of reviews to choose something different than usual Nepali food. Which I followed. Reception was very welcome. Selections of food was adequate including Nepali. Serving was excellent, there was waiter or waitress near the table all the time, couldn't be better. A very natural decoration nothing fancy. Splendid ambiance including some view of the lake. Nice , cosy and quiet, we were the noisier lot with a group of eight. I hope we didn't disturbed the others. Staff were very helpful taking pictures of us and moving the place from one place to another. The price, some had mentioned on a expensive side, but for me it was reasonable. However, there is room for improvement; I wish there was a proper napkins rather than a paper ones. More varieties on dessert. I sorry I don't have photo to include as my mobile wasn't used. It was...
Read moreWe were really excited to try Med5 for the first time in Pokhara after reading some excellent reviews. The food looked appealing because the presentation was good, but the taste did not meet our expectations.
The doner kebab was salty, the prosciutto pizza was bland, the meatball in the spaghetti was dry and tasteless and the spaghetti sauce didn't taste like it. We left half of our food. Either the reviews were misleading or they might have had a Chef change.
The staff however were friendly and helpful and the restaurant is in a beautiful location right across from Phewa Lake. The interiors are pretty too. It was also nice that they gave us complimentary toast and butter. If they work on their food items, the place will be a good option for Lakeside visitors. I will try them again in the future just to make sure we didn't get their food...
