We stayed at the Hotel Grand Holiday for the whole of our week in Pokhara and really enjoyed our stay. We had a room with a wrap around balcony with a view of both the mountains and the lake - though unfortunately the weather wasn’t kind when we were there so we couldn’t really see the views! There is also a comfortable roof terrace which is a lovely place to sit with a beer and watch the sunset. The owner Janak and Hari were amazingly kind and helpful, arranged lots of fantastic activities for us via their company ABC Trek and Tours (reviewed separately), but also gave us great recommendations for things to do and good places to eat around Pokhara. That said, the dal bhat and Nepali thakali we had at the hotel were among the best we ate on our entire trip, and their tomato ko achar is one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten (they kindly arranged for me to see how it is made, so I will be making it myself at home and adding it to everything!). They also arranged a car for us at very short notice to get us to Bardia when our flight was cancelled due to poor visibility. We received excellent service from everyone at the hotel for the whole of our stay and will definitely stay there if we ever visit...

The hotel was kind enough to let me check in super early in the morning, free of charge, which I really appreciated. It is located in Lakeside, which is the major tourist section of Pokhara. The location is quite good. My main issues are with how clean it was and the noise. I always like to do a quick bed bug check, and the mattress was filthy. All of the sheets and towels were frayed and old. Bugs frequently came in and out of the room. The toilet was combined with a shower. And you can hear literally everything. So if you want a cheap and charming rustic place to stay, this might be it. But it's definitely not...
Read moreThe hotel is managed by Ramesh, the most friendly and helpful guy you could ever imagine! Ramesh also runs the tour company ABC Treks that is connected to the hotel, which we used for our Mardi Himal base camp trek (such a great experience!). Throughout our more than a month long stay in Nepal we have been staying on and off at this place, and in addition to the trek, they have organized bus tickets, paragliding and visa service for us. The staff is great, breakfast is good, the rooms are spacious (we have tried 3 different ones), and on a clear day you can see the Annapurna range. There is only one key to each room = good security (deliver the key at the reception for room...
