Harris Mountains Heli-Ski — Attraction in South Island

I’ve been to both Japan and New Zealand this year for snowboarding, while Japan might have the reputation for snow quality and quantity, New Zealand is far superior for Heli-Ski experiences, thanks to Harris Mountains Heli-Ski. They have a vast array of mountain ranges available for skiers and riders, due to many decades of being in operation, which results in many well known runs the guides can take us on, depending on the conditions for the day. The guides know where the good snow is to compete with places like Hokkaido and Little Cottonwood Canyon. Our guide Joel and pilot Jonno (short for Jonathan), provided an incredible experience in the air, on the mountain, and at the base. The level of professionalism and safety procedures were top notch and I felt relaxed the whole time, despite the obvious risks of heli-skiing, which were significantly mitigated. Overall it was a pinnacle experience and I would plan on coming back to Queenstown for a season mainly to go on more heli-skiing...

We had such a great experience with Harris Mountain Heli-Ski, even though the weather didn’t play ball and we couldn’t make it up in the end. A huge shoutout to Atlas in the shop – she was absolutely amazing! So friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond trying to get us onto a trip last minute. Her positive energy and genuine care really stood out and made the whole process so easy. While we’re disappointed the weather didn’t cooperate this time, the service and warmth from Atlas has us 100% keen to come back...

An awesome experience heli-skiing with Harris Mountains Heli-Ski out of Queenstown. Our guides, Slappy (and others in team), professional through and through, picking great lines and making the day safe and smooth. The pilot was top notch and got us into some incredible terrain. Even with the resorts having limited conditions, we had great skiing and plenty of fresh turns. Well worth checking out, and I can’t wait...
