The restored basilica is a treasure trove of art and spirituality but is best known for its stained-glass windows, murals and a copy of the Turin Shroud. The basilica is in the Old Town section of Krakow, a few blocks southwest of Main Market Square. This stunning Catholic church boasts an impressive collection of Gothic and Baroque architectural styles, which becomes so apparent as soon as you enter. We were immediately struck by the vibrant colors and intricate details that adorn the walls and ceilings of the church. We were impressed with ornate chapels, each one a masterpiece in its own right. Like so many of the other churches we have seen in Krakow, the tranquil atmosphere inside is perfect for reflection, and the beautiful stained-glass windows filter in shafts of light, adding to the sense of serenity. Entry into the church is free, making it even more important to visit and take in its rich history and breathtaking beauty. Just be sure to avoid visiting during mass, as they don’t allow entry at those times. If you’re in Krakow, definitely make time to visit...

You can visit during the day (but not during services - unless you actually want to attend a mass) - it is a very moving experience, thinking about all the people who attended masses and prayed there for hundreds of years. Incredible art on the walls with floral movives and stain glass designed by Wyspianski. The church is currently (summer 2024) undergoing renovations and you can see people working there on the paintings. There are no tickets/payment to enter but you are welcome to donate some money for the church's upkeep, flowers, etc, or to buy and light a candle. It is also very cool inside even when it is incredibly...
