Very nice and quiet museum. Located near the contemporary art museum, is located inside a three story building. Starting from the top floor which is reachable through a very cool window elevator, there is the true ethnographic museum with the permanent exhibition with a very well cared space for kids. On the second floor she I visited there was a special exposition for the 100 years of the museum. And finally on the first floor a series of exhibition that changes over time. The prices are surprisingly cheap, 6 euros the regular ticket and 3 with the student discount. Overall the thing that I liked the most was the peace inside the museum probably because on a rainy Sunday people were doing other things and I only met three other visitors in my entire stay in the building.

I enjoyed the third floor, which has the main ethnographic exhibits. Much of the third floor has English translation. The other floors (1st & 2nd) are exhibitions and little English. The ground floor is just functional areas, including a woman doing hand weaving on a loom who is more than anxious to show you her wares and sell you something. One star off for the very abrupt young woman at the ticket desk who apparently had predetermined I had nothing important to say as she interrupted me every time I tried to speak!

Really interesting museum but tricky to navigate. We followed their advice: started at the top and worked our way down. But when we followed the arrows on each floor, we seemed to be going against the flow of traffic and the order of exhibits didn’t make sense. Should have started on the lower floors, which had a lot more Slovene history and that’s what we wanted to learn more about. So if that’s your goal, don’t do what we did! Overall it’s a cool museum with tons of amazing artefacts. Well worth a visit.

Cool air and elevator. Lots of old things. More of international history of Africa, Maya indian, Amazon than Slovenian history. There is own place for children. I prefer to see more from Slovenia as tourist point of view. So maybe change a bit the always staying exhibition would be good ☺️ The exhibition area looks nice, made by interior designer. When i visited museum very few visitors. Entrance fee 3€ as a student.

“Life is art, and art is life” Slovenian Ethnographic Museum had Rich collection, especially between nature and culture on third floor. You can see the context of European history-from daily necessities, religions, festivals, and traditional artwork creation. This permanent display of diverse European aspects, a very in-depth experience. The museum movement is clear and orderly, recommended 👍
