I called prior to my appointment and requested a protégé. They asked for pictures of me and for inspiration pictures of what I was interested in. I asked about the price of the protégé service and they said I need to give them $75 deposit and then it would be about 120. Additionally, they mentioned that the 75 went toward the total price of approximately 120. I actually had friends who have had the protégé work on their hair as well, and they were thrilled that I had the same person that they had seen. They let me know that their protégé had seen my pictures and was willing to do my hair. My hairdresser was exceptional with listening to exactly what I wanted, listening to my concerns about what my hair was doing. She had shades that she had pre-thought about she talked to me about every single thing every step of the way she was personable. She was knowledgeable. She was passionate. She knew exactly what she was doing. I felt very comfortable and impressed with her knowledge. She did an excellent job on my hair. I am totally thrilled. She is fantastic. So I went to pay the bill and I was in total shock that it was $330. I also had to remind the girls at the cash register that I had paid a deposit. They did not mention that. So with a tip of $66 we are now around $400 for what I was thinking was maybe going to be 200 at max with the tip included. I was also going off what my other friends had paid when they saw the same hairdresser. So I'm not exactly sure what got lost in...
Read moreThey destroyed my hair right before my wedding. I will never return to this salon.
Iâve been coming to Wael at Jamison Shaw for over 5 years and as time went on he got more clients and stopped focusing on quality.
Over the last 2 years itâs become common for their stylists to take multiple (4-5 people) in during your given time slot and the assistants who are still learning are left doing a majority of the work, incorrectly through no fault of theirs. The master stylist and management have stopped focusing on results their clients once used to receive.
I would not have been so upset until the day I went in to get my wedding hair colored dark brown and they messed it up with a bright orange (I have naturally black hair). I called Alyssa at management and rather than caring about a customer whoâs hair is orange 2 weeks and 5 days from service and right before my wedding, she did everything in her power to blame it on me and offered to fix it but at another charge after I already paid $210 for my service.
Iâm highly disappointed with not just management but also how greedy theyâve become to care about quality.
I highly recommend finding another salon for quality results and I strongly suggest never getting your hair done before a big event here. Orange hair is...
Read moreI wish they would quit wasting black women's time and just be upfront that they don't do coarse hair.
I got the impression that booking a same day appointment as a black woman is entirely too complicated and insufferable for this business. Looking at what they do, it's more obvious now that they don't really tolerate or care for a Black customer base or they really are clueless, and it's no wonder the receptionist wasted So Much time asking too many questions and being facetious. I assumed I could almost just walk in, but they have so many questions and doubt, they just seem clueless; they say they "will call back" but then never do, or Maybe they thought I would still be interested another day, after I would no longer need the services. So overall, I just wanted a blowout, but Jamison Shaw Hairdressers is low-key too rude, wasteful of time and fake to be trusted for black people. There's also pretty much no excuse for them, because i needed an emergency hair job done and they had me hung out to think they are quick response and have enough people working there to figure it out.
Instead I went to a small Dominican Salon where 1 lady is running the whole place and seems more productive than anything Shaw could...
