Extremely disappointed in Adriana’s choice and misuse of words during my consult on yesterday. Although her site specifically states that she “has expertise in all hair types and colors” Adriana verbally advised that she does not do “ethnic” hair and pointed me to the Black man next door.

I believe this was geared more towards my tanned skin, for experts have advised that I have medium and wavy hair. In fact, her pictures show a client with my hair type, but a different skin color.

As a Georgia Native American, dating back to several generations, I do not identify as “ethnic.” In fact, if my thinking and knowledge of humans was as limited as Adriana’s and based on her accent, facial features and the true definition of “ethnic;” it would be easy to label her as “ethnic.”

While I do not believe, Adriana’s intention was to offend or of malice descent; I do believe it is imperative to become fully informed of different hair types and the true meanings relating to culture, background, or race. Her behavior can easily come across as prejudiced. Also, it would be wise to remove verbiage from website if in fact, she cannot do all hair types.

Finally-- a stylist who will absolutely ensure she is on the same page as her client. Though I'm very particular I'm certainly not the best when it comes to articulating what I want in a cut but felt very comfortable talking my decision through with Adriana. She will carefully guide you if you aren't sure what you want but will give you what you want if you do. I knew I didn't want much length taken. She was very accommodating and only took what looked like a few centimeters from my length. This is something I've never experienced at another salon!!! I have very thin hair and have historically had layers recommended to me by other stylists, which I've discovered just don't work well for my type of hair. Adriana is now helping me to work towards growing out the old layers and unfortunately deep bangs that have burdened me making my hair look even thinner than it is, as she very kindly and respectfully pointed out to me.
