Outside outing for family. Fresh fruits and vegetables. Ethnic foods cultural crafts sold. Homemade no preservatives in many of the foods and items sold.
The salad dressings, sauces, dips, jams, preserves, pickled foods, Chow Chow all locally made. From and older mature couple and Family that usually set up on the side nearest the old Cotton patch resteraunt or the opposite side adjacent from Mi Ranchos resteraunt that is also in the markets path.
Other vendors are down toward and nearest the river. Large cups of fresh squeezed lemonade from $3 to $5 depending which vendor you chose.
There's many cultural food vendors. Fried fish, old time wash bucket fresh pork skins from Mathew, snaps jewelry, you name it. The big snow cone truck, versus the other truck that has tropical icey drinks or the creamed Italian water ice vendor that comes in from northern places. Still love those water ice choices. It's like eating ice cream without milk. The couple that does those aren't always there..
If it's hot out bring an umbrella to shade you because the fountain hasn't been on in a year or two maybe three. It used to keep the market cooler on hot scorching Georgia days.
It opens about eight a.m. and closes promptly at 2pm. All electricity is shut off at 2pm sharp. So, be sure to order and get any food before or by 130pm.
It has a number of vendors to interest you. It is usually open from March till right at or before December. It may end right about mid November after the Thanksgiving holiday. Not exactly sure about the exact end date.
Each time brings a different...
Read moreThe Augusta Market is a happy find and I've already been here several times, once even proudly touring the place with extended family when they visited from out of town. The Saturday Augusta Market, held at an entrance to the beautiful Augusta Riverwalk, is an example that I wanted to display as a "best of" while they were here. Every Saturday there are some of the vendors that I've seen before mixed with new displays to add variety and make every trip a little bit different. As a morning excursion it would be hard to find a better place, as here you'll find delicious foods: both cooked fresh and ready-to-eat or to take home, varied shopping opportunities encompassing artwork, jewelry, home 🏡 cleaning products, clothes, and so much more... all intertwined with entertaining shows and exhibits for the start of your weekend. A great variety yet a cozy, small venue feel combine with the always-gorgeous Riverwalk on the banks of the Savannah River to offer a unparalleled experience. I can't recommend...
Read moreI LOVE going to the Augusta Market downtown each Saturday. Highly recommend getting there early and walking the market with a cup of coffee from the local Cafe Buona to see which vendors are attending that week. You can always find fresh fruit and veggies from nearby farms, local honey, tasty breads and pastries, handmade jewelry and soaps, and an assortment of food vendors. My personal favorites are the Sweet or Savory Crepes stand and the arepas from the Colombian stand near the entrance to the market. Most weeks you can also find plants/flowers for your garden and farm fresh eggs, as well. My only complaints would be about the guy that shout about how it's "hot dog time!", even when it's 8:30 in the morning, and there is occasionally a tent for someone selling windows. I would love to see more local farms and food vendors, as well as more hand-made or...
