This review is not about the property itself, since Club Wyndham canceled my booking, instead offering me an alternative property, four days before my expected arrival. (I had to cancel three days ahead to avoid a cancelation fee.)
I used the Wyndham Vacation Resorts (WVO) site to book almost three months in advance, including signing up for the Wyndham credit card for a discount and points. It turns out that the actual booker is called Extra Holidays, but I have since confirmed that they are the official booking site for Club Wyndham at Avon. No one could explain why my booking was canceled. I was offered two alternatives: Seasons, which is an inferior non-Wyndham property, or a condo up in Beaver Creek, which is less convenient.
The customer service with Extra Holidays was extremely poor. Again, I got an email just four days before my expected arrival. The email said that they had also called my cell phone, which they hadn't, even though I had received a reconfirmation text on that same number a few days before. Then, after I saw that they hadn't actually canceled my reservation more than eight hours later, I canceled myself using the Wyndham Vacation Resorts website where I had booked. No idea what would have happened if I hadn't canceled myself, as Extra Holidays also did not respond to my followup email. I will say that they refunded $50 above my deposit, so they must have read my email complaining that a refund is barely sufficient for the inconvenience.
I went into Club Wyndham at Avon during my stay -- at a different accomodation that I found myself -- and they were far nicer than customer service at Extra Holidays, but still couldn't explain why my booking was canceled/changed last minute, especially since I had used the official booking platform, not a third-party site. I have since canceled my Wyndham Rewards account and my Wyndham credit card, because I can never trust Wyndham again.
This is especially disappointing because I chose this property based on the great reviews and recommendation of friend who live in Avon. Needless to say, they won't be recommending this property...
Read morePrior to my trip I went to the website and I accounted to pay $15 per night for self parking. When I checked in there was no notification of a change to the price of parking during my entire stay as well as checking out no one ever notified me that there was a change in the price of parking. I was even given an information booklet that stated valet parking was was $20 per night. After I checked out and left, I received my bill via email and found that I was charged $25 a night for self parking, that is an in additional $10 per night. I went back to the website to verify in the website still states $15 per night for self parking, when I called I was told the website says that the resort can change the price at any time without notice, OK goodbye. That is unacceptable to me. You do not change the price of something without notifying the customer that you were changing the price prior to the customer taking part in it. You also do not say well we told you we can change the price at any time so deal with it. That is shady business practices and that’s not the type of customer service that I expect to deal with at any place. My entire stay was overshadowed by the untrustworthiness of this resort I’ve learned if you’re untrustworthy in one department you likely are in others. I still don’t know if the sudden price change is something that is for everyone, if it happened at the beginning of my stay, if it happened partially through my stay, or if it was just for me. My issue isn’t even being charged extra, it’s being told that you can do so because your website says you can change your price at any time. The way that the manager handled the situation when I called to find out more information was the worse. I see if he stated at the change of the year or after the first of January the prices went up to $25. We haven’t had a chance to update the website yet. But no, that wasn’t even a response. The response was that we can change the prices whenever we want, OK bye. At this point any response will likely be crafted into some lovely story but you’ve already shown yourself to be...
Read moreI booked this hotel so that my boyfriend and I could visit friends while they were skiing in Beaver Creek. When we arrived we were told that our room would not be ready until two hours after the check in time. The concierge was very nice and our room was great when we got in, so I didn’t think anything about it.
My boyfriend was working during this trip so I went out to go get coffee and food every morning. The first two days we were there the restaurant was closed, so I had to walk across the street to a Starbucks. Wednesday morning the restaurant was going to be open, so I was looking forward to that!
Wednesday morning I went downstairs to get coffee and two burritos to bring up to him. I went into the restaurant and asked for two coffees and two breakfast burritos to go. The girl behind the cash register told me that I can’t have anything to go. She told me I would have to sit down and eat in the restaurant. I told her my boyfriend was working and that I needed to take it up to him. She threw her hands up and said that there is nothing she could do about it. They are not doing to go orders. So…instead of arguing with her, I went out to the front desk and asked for a manager.
The front desk agent told me “I can get my manager but they’re not gonna do anything about it“. Next a female front desk agent came out from the back and said “ by the way, you need to be checked out by 10 and we’re going to charge you for every 30 minutes beyond that.“
I was so angry that I walked away. They shouted across the lobby “have a nice day“.
I seriously cannot recall a time that I’ve ever been treated so poorly by someone who’s supposed to be working in the hospitality industry. Very disappointing.
I also filled out the survey and asked to be contacted by management. I’m still waiting three weeks later.
Sadly, I booked this room through American Express travel! Which I will be contacting next. Stay at the Westin across the street. They were so wonderful. That’s where I went to Starbucks and we had dinner. Hard pass...
