Do not use JK Techs. They broke my laptop and will not admit it.
I've never before had to leave a negative review for technical services but people should know that if they break part of your computer they will not admit it. I made an expensive mistake when I trusted them.
I had a laptop with damage to one hinge and a crack in the case near that hinge. When I dropped it off the computer was working, it had only physical damage to the case. After the hinge broke I opened the lid just enough for me to power it down from the Windows menu using the internal trackpad. My sons watched me do this. The frame next to part of the screen had a crack but the screen was working normally. I dropped it off with them to get an estimate. When they called me back they told me that the entire laptop was broken. They had opened it, taken the components out and tried them in another customer's computer and they told me the memory was dead, the screen was dead, the hard drive, etc.
1: I didn't give permission for them to put my components in another person's computer
2: It does not make any sense that a computer that was shut down in a normal way would have multiple unrelated internal components suddenly break.
I can only conclude that they cased additional damage while opening the case.
I'm an IT professional with 15+ years experience. The only part of a laptop I don't repair myself is damage to the case. The reason why I did not open the case is because I am aware of how easy it is to damage a screen while opening a broken case. If you have experience with IT you will know that a cracked frame does not typically damage multiple internal components not near the damage...

After spending about 4 hours on the phone with Apple Support just to realize I wasn't going to be able to take the next remedial steps I started looking for local tech support near Rhinebeck. Javier was the first person to return my call and the only one able to help.
I was in his Hopewell office the next day dropping my computer off for a new hard drive. Unable to get back down to his office 40 minutes away, Javier delivered my fixed computer to my home for a nominal fee on the 26th. He charged me no more than he said he would: the cost of the new SSD and his very reasonable labor for installing it.
Everything worked well. For a day. Even though the glitch turned out to be the brand new SSD which was outside of his control, Javier assumed responsibility of the situation and replaced the faulty SSD with a brand new one, at no cost to me.
I was and am very grateful to Javier for looking after me. I was able to collect my fixed Mac before leaving the country for several months - hence the delayed review. But now I can testify that my mac has been working perfectly ever since Javier fixed it 5 months ago.

I went in and the guy told me he figured out what was wrong but has to order the part for it and to come back in a week to pick it up. I did not receive a call or email stating my laptop was ready for pick up but assumed it would be ready within the week. The following week I could not make it to the store to pick up my laptop so I went in the week after. Upon arrival I was told that the piece they ordered was the wrong one and they had to send it back and wait for the right piece to come in but they just received it the day prior and would work on it that night. When asked why was I not informed by email or phone, I was told “You have to understand I have about 40 people calling me everyday for their computers so I have to put those people who call me as priority.” I mentioned that’s not how business works and it was very unprofessional.
