Seriously, how long can Luna Island last. I saw a very old painting of the two falls from 1802. Luna Island stood between the American Falls and the Bridal Falls then and still does now. The park has totally secured the island by adding a fence at least four feet high. Children will understand their boundaries on Luna Island. There's nice dolomite boulders for a place to sit should you choose to enjoy a picnic lunch and hear the roaring water flow on by you. Luna Island gives you two waterfalls for the price of one visit, which is free. There's a lot to contemplate on the brink of Luna Island. You can study the talus slopes of limestone boulders at the base. You can see coins that people have thrown into the steam towards the Bridal Falls. You can even see ducks paddling in the rushing waters without panicking. How can those ducks keep position so easily in the massive flow of water? A kayaker in the same position world be grasping at rocks or logs that close to the drop! Worry not. Robinson Island just up steam from Luna would have to wear away before Luna would be threatened by the persistent Niagara's flow. Don't do it. But if somebody jumped the fence, they could cross over to Robinson Island on a fallen log. Don't do it. I'm pretty sure the rangers have to evict campers now but and then on Robinson Island.
