I've waited months to write this review. I used to see Theresa at Fox & Jane and loved her! She was the best and I trusted her with my hair for cuts and color. Once she moved, I saw Miriah. I have naturally curly hair, but my hair always turns out better if it is cut straightened and dry. I went to my appt on Feb. 21st, 2025 with my hair already straight. I explained to Miriah that my haircuts always turn out better if my hair is straight and dry. She said she "doesn't do that" and basically refused to do so. So I trusted her because she is the curly hair expert after all, and I let her wash my hair first and then cut it wet. I told her I wanted a couple inches off the length, plus face-framing pieces and more layers. She cut maybe a couple inches, but did not do any visible layers or face framing pieces. However, it was hard to tell this at the time, because of how she fixed my hair (not how I normally fix/wear it). Once I got home and wore my hair naturally curly a couple days and saw how bad it really was, I called the salon and explained it to them and said I wanted to come in for an adjustment. They agreed and had me send a picture of my hair. I did so. I went back on March 1st, 2025 for the adjustment with Miriah. She agreed that it needed some more shaping/layers, etc. and I tried explaining again that's why I like it cut straight and dry so everything can be seen better. She did cut it dry this day, but it wasn't straight; it was my natural curl, because I wanted her to see how bad it looked. She then proceeded to butcher my cut even more than it already was. She said she didn't want to give too many layers because then it would look like "a mullet". Uhm excuse me? What a weird thing to say. How can a woman's long hair end up like a mullet just because you want some layers?! She then did a weird technique I have never seen anyone do, where she twisted certain sections of my hair and then ran the scissors down the twists of hair to make layers I guess. She kept doing this and I thought it seemed like too much, but I wasn't going to say anything because I am not a hairdresser. I trusted she knew how to fix it. Long story short, she then made too many chunky, choppy, drastic-looking layers. My hair ended up being much shorter than I wanted, with horrible looking "layers" that were not blended at all, and looked like I had bad extensions that were not blended. The length difference between the shortest layer I had and the longest was about 7 inches, which is quite a lot. She also sprayed some texture/curl spray in my hair which made it super sticky and gunky so I still couldn't fully tell how it looked when I left. I don't understand how someone can screw up someone else's hair so bad, especially when they are considered to be an "expert" for the type of hair you have. I ended up researching a lot of salons, and found a different stylist at a different salon who does dry trims, and went to her about a month later for her to fix the mess the best that she could. Overall, I am not happy at all with my whole experience with Miriah and will definitely not be back to see her or recommend...
Read moreHalf head highlight with Rachel 1-16-24
I usually don’t do reviews, but wanted to save someone from having the same thought process as me.
I researched Rachel, saw great reviews and noticed she had a higher price for a half head highlight than the other staff. Most of the staff charges $118, but she charges $140. I was thinking “she must be amazing since she charges $22 dollars more than the other stylists.” Well.. I arrive and she is sweet, showing me pictures of what she could do based on what I was asking for. I just wanted my dark roots broken up a bit with a few highlights. I have hair to my shoulder blades and she told me her $140 price was for “shoulder length hair” and my price would be $170. That didn’t make sense to me because I just wanted my roots done.. so the dye didn’t need to be put through the whole length of my hair.. so if I had shoulder length hair it would still be the same amount of dye.. but I was agreeable.
Rachel then offered to add a few low lights to blend my roots with the rest of my hair which sounded beautiful and I REALLY wanted her to do it. Then she said it was $260 for her to do that… again makes no sense why the price would jump that much for a few low lights.. I said no, but then after thinking about it I talked myself into doing it because I only get the highlights every 6 months and I deserve to treat myself. So yes I paid $260 for all this :(..
To top it off, she didn’t even finish my hair. She had someone else wash and style me because she ran out of time.. I just found that so unprofessional..
The worst of it is, she damaged my hair, I have so much breakage where she highlighted.. she must of doubled layered my already blonde portion of my hair…. and I also do not notice those low lights that I paid so much money for.. I just don’t like my hair at all right now. She was going way too fast, checking the clock, and talking super fast about all the products and things I need in my life for healthy hair unsolicited.
Side note: I use to see Jaycee, but she is no longer there. I miss her!! She charged $118, always did my hair perfect, and never charged me more because my length of hair was longer.
I just think the facility should make sure their employees don’t take advance of their clients and charge them an excessive amount of money…
I didn’t want to write a bad review about a specific stylist because that’s their business and how they make their money… but when I feel taken advantage of, had an awful experience, and also hate the hair that I paid so much money for I think it’s needed to prevent other people from making the same mistakes and hopefully open management’s eyes about the excessive charges that I find to be inappropriate now looking back, especially when other stylists do...
Read moreI went in to see Rae for a cut and color and couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Rae ensured that all my needs were met from the moment I sat in her chair until the moment I left the salon. When I was describing what I wanted she listened attentively and would ask deeper questions when she needed to know more. Before we even got started I was confident she knew exactly what look I was going for. I have a very thick head of hair, so Rae and I spent a good amount of time together that day. Rae was great at keeping the conversation throughout the whole process. She walked me through every step so I knew what was going on the whole time. She never once complained about my thick head of hair which is something I hear frequently from other stylists. She was the first stylist I have ever had that asked my opinion on styling preferences toward the end. The salon’s wonderful assistant, Michael, assisted Rae in blow drying my hair since I do have a lot of hair, and he was so friendly and kept a great conversation while working with her. I asked Rae to curl my hair so I could ride it out for the work week. I am more than excited about my new hair, and already rebooked with Rae for my next appointment!! And the best thing is Rae was just as excited as I was which only made me...
