I like this store a lot, and used to shop here regularly - unfortunately, not anymore. I bought a pair of On hikers a couple weeks ago, that felt great in store, but when I put them on for my first hike, just didn't feel right. I wore them for about 5 mins, walking circles in a concrete parking lot, before I decided they were no good, and put on one of my older pairs instead.
Went to return the Ons today, and owner would not accept them as they were "worn"; the only evidence of which was a small fleck of dirt that I could have (and probably should have) wiped off in about 10 seconds. I didn't even want cash, only store credit... so I could grab a different pair of hikers, more appropriate for my feet. No such luck. I instead have a $200 pair of shoes that I won't wear.
I like this store a lot, and love supporting independent local businesses. But I won't shop where I don't feel valued. Sadly, this kind of short-sighted, inside the box thinking, has lost you a regular customer, who buys a lot of gear. For what?
Absolutely recommend shopping here, as long as you're the kind of person who gets every purchase 100% right the first time. You'll love this store...
Read moreThis is about as good as local stores get. In terms of climbing gear, they have just as much if not more than the local REI, and the prices are stellar. They also have a PLETHORA of guidebooks for local climbing areas which is another thing that's hard to find anywhere else locally; I can almost always walk in there right before a trip to a new area and find the book I need.
The management is also wonderful and always goes above and beyond to help you out. I recently bought a stick clip in a rush before climbing that weekend, and didn't realize I had bought the wrong size. When I asked about returning it, they said they typically need the tags or cardboard backing label that came with it, which I had already thrown out. When I told them no worries, Jeff put me on hold, called Trango, and asked them if they could send a new backing label, then got back on the line with me and told me I'd be able to return it. If that's not the definition of customer service, I don't know what is. Things like that are what keep people coming back.

Read moreWent here about a week ago with my partner and my family and had a really disappointing experience. We have been coming here for years every time we have a chance to visit Colorado Springs and never had an issue until now. The staff was incredibly rude and would not stop following us around the entire time to the point that my sister and parents got so uncomfortable they stepped out. Now my partner also works at an outdoor gear store so I understand being attentive to answer questions and I appreciate that, but this was blatant profiling and was really upsetting. There was one blonde employee that would not stop following us around the store. There was one point where my partner was looking at gloves and she kept coming back getting extremely close to us and leaving. She would leave put on a different jacket or clothing item and then walk back closely to us and kept doing that until we checked out. Please do better and get a more respectful staff, we would love to support another outdoor store, but not one that treats people like this. Do...
