✨ 3rd Visit to ORO – Still Our Favorite in Colorado Springs! ✨
We always look forward to dining at ORO, and this visit was just as special. Since our favorite table was already taken, we sat at the bar (tip: make a reservation if you want a specific spot!). The bar service was just as exceptional—fast-paced, friendly, and attentive even on a busy night.
One of the highlights? The playlist! It’s such a unique experience to hear family members’ music playing while enjoying dinner—it made the night even more memorable. (Yes, we had to make a video to share with him!) 🎶❤️
A special shoutout to Nila G, Raquel, Sherman, and our wonderful hostess. The female bartender (sadly I didn’t get her name) was amazing—she recommended appetizers, entrées, and cocktails that were all her favorites, and she did not miss. Everything was incredible!
Of course, a huge thank you to the chef and kitchen staff. The menu continues to impress us with its thoughtful dishes and competitive pricing. And don’t forget—they offer a 10% military discount, which we truly appreciate. 🇺🇸
🍴 Our Meal for the Evening • Arancini alla Romana – Crispy saffron risotto croquettes, jalapeño, basil, tomato sauce • Pappardelle Lamb Ragú – Braised lamb, pancetta, chili, pine nuts, mint • Frutti di Mare – Bucatini, mussels, shrimp, scallops, tomato, lemon, saffron, capers, parsley
Every bite was outstanding, and the service made us feel like family. We can’t wait for visit #4!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend ORO for anyone in or visiting Colorado Springs!
✨ First-time dining at ORO and it was an absolute delight! ✨
The atmosphere is clean, elegant, and warm—I especially loved the gold accents that made the space feel extra special. From the moment we sat down, Nila G was amazing—she walked us through appetizers, entrées, and desserts with such knowledge and care. Every single one of her recommendations was spot-on!
We indulged in: 🍝 Rigatoni Bolognese 🌸 Fiori 🍸 Espresso Martini 💧 San Pellegrino 🥖 Focaccia with Basil Butter 🧀 Burrata & Pueblo Peppers 🍨 House-made Gelato & Pizzelle Spumoni
Everything was absolutely delicious. Portions were generous too—we even had leftovers! While I personally prefer when food is packaged at the table, Nila kindly took our plates to the back to wrap them. At first, I worried the box looked too small, but once we unpacked at home, everything was neatly packed and nothing was missing 😊.
On top of it all, ORO offers a 10% Military Discount, which we greatly appreciate.
This was such a wonderful first experience, and I can’t wait to return. Highly recommend for anyone looking for elegance, flavor, and...
Read moreWe had a mixed experience at Oro. Going into it, I knew to expect some service hiccups as I had read other reviews. I am here to report that they are 100% correct. Here's what Oro did well, could improve, and failed miserably at.
The good: The ambiance was spot on. Upscale decor, not too loud or dark inside, and friendly staff. I was impressed when we walked in. The food was also delicious. We had some olives to start, then pasta bolognese, branzino, and spicy broccolini with Calabrian chilies. The broccolini was the star, I don't understand how it was seasoned so well! The branzino was also phenomenal (one of the best I've ever had), and the bolognese was spot on. The olives were slightly warmed and a great salty snack to start us off.
The bad: As others have noted, the pacing is way off. Things happened too fast, then too slow. For example, we wanted to order a second round of drinks to pair with our dinner but our server was rushing around covering too many tasks. When we finally got his attention to bring us a menu, it was again another few minutes before he returned to order. By the time we got our drinks we had already received our main course. Also he absent mindedly took my wife's wine from the first round before she was done with it. We only realized because he set it at the bar across from our table and we could see a few sips left. Oro has to work on their pacing, it matches the vibe of a Chili's more than a "fine dining establishment" as the hotel next door calls them.
The ugly: The broccolini (a dish that was labeled as GF on the menu and was noted for a gluten allergy by our server), came to our table with panko breadcrumbs on it. Again it took me a few minutes to get the attention of our server, who then took a few minutes to identify the issue with the kitchen, who then took another few minutes to bring out a replacement. We were halfway done with our main course when the fixed dish came out. The explanation for the panko was a "last minute" addition by the kitchen. If the dish had not been marked as GF on the menu, I would have understood, but that's not something to mess around with. The staff were very apologetic, however they did not comp the dish. I don't expect that these days, but it would have been nice and in keeping with their "fine dining" image.
Overall I would recommend you wait on this restaurant for at least six months. Let them work out the kinks,...
Read more“Over the top,” would be my review of Oro. In my forty years of actively patronizing restaurants have I ever encountered what would be my personal five diamond review rating. Reviewed the trifecta of restaurants (food quality, service, and atmosphere) each scoring exemplary.
Visiting Colorado Springs (40th anniversary), my wife happened upon Oro while staying in the Mining Exchange Hotel. We had early reservations and stopped by the restaurant when checking in to possibly shift the reservation forward an hour to allow us to settle in after the plane trip. The young lady at the hostess station was very accommodating.
Later returning, she recalled the earlier events, introducing us to the two others at the station and also including that it was our anniversary in the introduction. Seating in a corner (great seats to overlook each other and the restaurant), it was the only time on our week-long trip a hostess accommodated for our celebration.
Our server, Tara, was attentive without being intrusive. She watched over every item that was brought to the table, catching only one slipup in one of the portions, an error quickly remedied. She was communicative with staff at the bar, hostess, chef, busboy, and manager – each approaching the table at various times throughout the evening with a congratulatory remark.
Pre-dinner cocktails (Woodford) were prepared perfectly, correct portion of Woodford with large single clear ice cube. The was followed by Arancini alla Romana, Ceasar, and Focaccia (w/ basil butter). All three were excellent, so much so that we could have made a meal but reluctantly held back in favor of the soon-to-follow entrées.
Braised lamb shank and veal scallopini – again, excellently prepared.
Atmosphere was very pleasant, and that layout of the restaurant felt spacious regardless of where you might be seated. The bathrooms were spotless, as was every area in site.
Never have we encountered such a well-orchestrated staff, knowledgeable in most every aspect of our supper. Taken back by such an overwhelming experience, we wanted to return the memory. Although the cost of our meal was much less that what I did next… I gave Tara $200 and asked her to break the amount up and share to her follow staff that were involved.
Thank you, Tara and the staff at Oro. Magnificent! May your...
