I would not recommend anyone stay at the MGM Grand. For the price, you’re better off choosing a cheaper hotel that offers better value, cleanliness, and basic amenities. I was there for a conference, and the hotel in relation to the conference center is a long walk through a smoky crowded mall area; a friend was at a nearby hotel and could get there quicker (add 5 minutes for the elevator). Also, there is not where really to sit in the hotel lobby, or invite guests to do work, the rooms definitely weren’t set up for doing any sort of meaningful work, good luck finding an outlet, and no USB connection outlets for charging devices. Just an awful place.

My room at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino was low quality for a 4-star hotel, dirty and with lots of broken appliances, cracks in the walls, dirty windows, and despite being a nonsmoking room still smelled of old smoke. It was poorly maintained, with stains all over the carpet and curtains, broken drawers, and outdated appliances. The iron didn’t quite work sometimes, and the ironing board surface wasn’t flat. No refrigerator was provided, and despite the large size, didn’t have many places to really do work. The hotel was underwhelming for the cost, the hallways were consistently dirty, and mornings with obnoxiously loud and rude cleaning staff.

Amenities were nearly non-existent, and what little was available was ridiculously overpriced. The water from the taps was so heavily chlorinated it tasted harsh, and made my skin itch throughout the day. The elevators were unreliable, with several buttons not working. Even the room key would randomly stop working, having to get a new one, adding to the frustration.

The check-in and floor staff were generally rude and unhelpful, barely acknowledging guests or providing directions when asked. The cleaning staff was loud, unprofessional, and disruptive, making it difficult to feel any sense of relaxation. The security and valet staff were friendly and professional, however. Sadly, they were the exception to the overall low standard of customer service.

I will never recommend anyone stay here and caution anyone who comes here as I discovered a charge for an item from the mini bar, in fact I never even touched as there are signage all over about “pressure sensitive” sensors. I was fortunate to catch this mistake because I checked my room charges daily on the app, suspecting issues like this might arise. Overall I get a real scammy vibe from this place. While I managed to get the charge removed, it should never have been an issue to begin with. Strong Caution to Future Guests!

I would strongly advise anyone considering the MGM Grand to think twice. For the high prices they charge, the quality is ridiculously low, like Motel 6 on the highway low, at least they have free breakfast and a coffee maker. If you’re looking for a budget experience, save your money and choose a hotel where even the basics—like water—don’t come at an outrageous $22 a bottle. There are far better options in Las Vegas that provide cleaner rooms, better service, perks and more amenities without the ridiculous price tag. Avoid the MGM Grand at all costs.
