My wife and I were looking to buy a washer and dryer for our house on the mustang island just before Port Aransas. We went to Lowe’s on Airline and went in and looked at some. My new wife had questions about brands and what was better for the price. The scarce employees were too busy on their phones and talking to each other this to even acknowledge us. We got so frustrated trying to get anyone to talk with us that we literally just left our cart in the center of appliances and walked out without even talking to 1 employee and I said let’s go to Home Depot. She asked what’s the difference my dad of 83 years likes Home Depot why do you? I told her 1 reason, customer service! She didn’t believe me until we drove to 5041 spid in Labor Day holiday the 30th 2025 thick traffic!!! We were also looking for 3 car and boat garage door paint(due to rust as everything on the island rusts) lawn care items and possibly replacing our existing kitchen appliances. We got there and were looking at paint and thought we knew what we wanted. Right then a young employee came up to us and asked do y’all need any help? We told him our situation and he immediately ,with a smile, said I’ve got just what you need. Hectook the time to get us the primer/paint we needed and the amount for our doors meanwhile explaining the differences and quality of what we would need! We bought the bear paint and before we could grab them, he said I’d be happy to take them and get them mixed for you and you can pick up at the counter when you’re done shopping! I had totally forgotten that they needed to be shaken and mixed. Young Hispanic male in paint. So we were both surprised at how nice, helpful and most of all genuine he was. I immediately said see why me and your dad come to Home Depot! 1 reason, customer care!!! We then went find our washer and dryer and were, AGAIN, greeted immediately by an older white male who asked can I help y’all find anything? Of course my wife had many questions about what was best and would last the longest. He took the time explaining the differences after ASKING what her needs were? He showed us what would handle the workload and showed us(instead and most importantly what would work and VALUED our time after we told him about our complete and wasted time at Lowe’s). Completely shocked my wife(who never believes me) said “now I see what you and my dad are talking about! What nice, fully staffed and truly amazing customer care they give here.” We ended up spending over $6000 dollars worth of merchandise and made customers for life!!! Never will we give Lowe’s 1 penny or ever step foot in there again. We’re so used to bad service now a days that we will drive the extra miles for the experience and treatment we received from not just 1 but every time we needed something, bam!, there was an employee right there and helpful. We even bought tile backsplash for our kitchen that we had debated on for literally years!! OUTSTANDING job to all. So impressed and most of all validated all I had told her why I have come to home depot all these years with just a little extra effort and personal experience made our day and we left feeling appreciated and totally surprised!! Thank you for taking some stress off us and legit caring about us....
Read moreI’ve been a loyal Home Depot customer for years and usually shop at the Calallen location without any issues. Unfortunately, my experience at the SPID location was incredibly disappointing and left me feeling humiliated, disrespected, and emotionally hurt.
I had gone in to buy a few small items to fix a door handle. I was not feeling well at the time, having taken prescribed pain medication for a cracked tooth. I unintentionally left my purchased items in the cart outside while searching for my vehicle. When I realized my mistake, I called the store. The woman I spoke with was understanding and encouraged me to come in so they could help me figure out what happened.
However, once I arrived, the tone changed completely. I was immediately treated with suspicion, sarcasm, and a lack of empathy. The man at the returns counter spoke to me as if I was trying to scam the store. Despite my honesty and openness about the situation, I was made to feel like I was lying or trying to get something for free.
What was most upsetting was the humiliation I felt in front of other customers and staff. I was spoken about within earshot, and it was clear from their tone and body language that I was not being treated with any compassion or dignity. I’ve never stolen a thing in my life, and to be made to feel like a thief—especially after coming in to ask for help with a simple mistake—was embarrassing and deeply hurtful.
Even though I acknowledged it was my error, I left the store feeling ashamed and emotionally shaken. I had only come to the SPID location to help my niece fix up her place. I normally wouldn’t have shopped at that location, but I wanted to stay loyal to Home Depot even though there was a Lowe’s closer by.
The treatment I received at this store was not only unprofessional, it was demeaning. I wasn’t asking for special treatment—just to be spoken to with respect and understanding. If someone had simply said, “Let’s check and see what we can find,” or “We’re sorry this happened,” it would have made all the difference.
Instead, I walked away feeling embarrassed, hurt, and completely disregarded. Sadly, this experience has made me rethink where I take my business. I truly hope this store considers better training in customer care, compassion, and professionalism. No one deserves to be made to feel...
Read moreTHIS IS FOR TRUCKERS!!
If you are making a delivery here for the first time; be aware that’s it’s in a super busy shopping mall area and next to three hotels on the right side, behind like 6 restaurants, and connected to academy sports outdoor; who also have a sams club near them. So as you can imagine during the day the parking lot if full and jammed with customers for them and others as well as display items; it would be hard to drive through the area you need to bc it will be busy!! I would say the best time for anyone who’s doing a drop and hook to get there early ,but don’t! I don’t know if they are extremely short staffed or if this store manager allows it to run like this but they don’t do day unloading ; which surprised me bc I delivered to a bunch of HD in other states and other cities in this state; they start immediately; this store however won’t start unloading trailers until the night crew come in about 7pm. If you try to get here early to beat the busy customers for them and the surrounding area. They will refuse to accept the load until 6am when the store open. So plan wisely! I would recommend coming in from the Sams club side! Passing where they have their docks and just driving to this side ! If and only if you are able to!! If not please be aware when coming in on the hotel side the alley way in the back has a STEEP drive up ramp; I only went down it! And didn’t know bc I didn’t come up that way; I turned in the other way infront of the store ( hit curbs and drove over them to avoid hitting people, cars , and display items) anyways I can def imagine your landing gear getting stuck on that ramp and when you drive down be aware the landing gear cutting stuck annns tail of your trailer would drag on ramp; it’s also busy right there bc of traffic coming in and going out on that street! Would have to be able to take up all lanes. Anyways just a heads up!! Bc I looked on google maps and thought I mapped out a entrance and exist plan but wasn’t aware until I was here and saw what I saw 🥴. Just a...
