I recently visited Animas River Beer Garden and unfortunately had an encounter with their head cook, Tony, that left a lasting negative impression. I feel compelled to share my experience, as Tony's behavior towards his coworkers was extremely mean-spirited and his failure as a leader was evident throughout my visit.
Upon entering the restaurant, I sensed an uncomfortable tension in the kitchen, largely attributed to Tony's hostile demeanor. It was disheartening to witness his mistreatment of his coworkers, creating an unpleasant atmosphere that undoubtedly affected the overall dining experience.
What struck me as particularly disappointing was Tony's refusal to provide proper training to new kitchen staff. I observed a new employee being subjected to Tony's unkind behavior, which ultimately led them to leave the restaurant. This lack of support and guidance from Tony not only hindered the growth of the new employee but also disrupted the smooth functioning of the kitchen as a whole.
Regrettably, my visit took a turn for the worse when Tony decided to throw a temper tantrum instead of attending to the orders of the patrons. As a result, the restaurant's supervisor had to step in and fill Tony's role, causing a temporary inability to serve food. This resulted in frustrated customers and a tarnished reputation for Animas River Beer Garden.
It was clear that Tony's behavior reflected a profound lack of understanding of his responsibilities as a leader. His disregard for his coworkers and the impact of his actions on both the staff and customers was utterly unacceptable. It became apparent that Tony's inflated sense of self-importance was unfounded, as his behavior only served to alienate those around him.
In summary, my experience at Animas River Beer Garden was marred by the presence of Tony, an extremely mean-spirited and ineffective leader. His mistreatment of coworkers, refusal to properly train new staff, and temper tantrum resulted in a disappointing and disruptive dining experience. It is evident that Tony's presence has a detrimental effect on the overall atmosphere of the restaurant, and his behavior has undoubtedly contributed to a lack of respect and support from his colleagues. I would caution potential patrons to consider these issues before choosing to dine at Animas River...

We had a wonderful experience at Animas River Beer Garden! The food was fantastic, the drink selection was great, and the setting by the river couldn’t have been more beautiful. What really stood out, though, was how welcoming and accommodating everyone was—especially with our two young daughters.
Our server, Jen, was absolutely amazing. She was friendly, patient, and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. She made our girls feel right at home, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable for us as parents.
It’s rare to find a spot that offers such a fun and relaxing environment while still being incredibly family-friendly. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this place to anyone—whether you’ve got kids in tow or just want a chill spot with great...
Read moreFirst off it was a ROUGH night for these guys. They had a chef no show so there was only 1 for both the hotels restaurant. The waitresses were so nice and did their best to accommodate the long table and food times. They warned me it'd be a while so I went ahead, started waiting for a table, and even put our food order in way before seating. So, with the right planning it worked out fine.
I got the fish and chips and they were pretty good. I was a little jealous bc my son's tacos looked AMAZING. My wife got a steak salad and enjoyed hers a lot. The kids also got root beer floats, and they brought the A&W cans with extra root beer.
As for atmosphere, you can't beat it. You're literally on the river and have an amazing view. Hopefully they got their staffing issues sorted out. The vibe and food were...
