Dr. Dave is an EXCELLENT salesman, but a HORRIBLE healthcare provider! Went last week for a cleaning and wound up but being set up for a crown. Dr. sat down with me for almost an hour, discussing my case and put me at ease. I trusted him because if he could sit down with me for an hour and take that time to discuss my care, past, present, and future, he must provide awesome care...WRONG!! OMG so wrong and I feel like I got bamboozled in the worst way. After my 1st appt I went home in massive pain once the novocain wore off and he didn't even give my ibuprofen. Called the office and the call center paged the on call Dr 3 separate times, no one called back. No one cared. I wound up having to get drunk to pass out, which meant I couldn't nurse my daughter that night, which only made me cry harder, which made the pain in my mouth worse. Next appt...I show up 45 min early to discuss that not only did no one educate me on the pain I was going to deal with, but that I called looking for help and no one called back. I also explained that I came in with discomfort in a tooth and now I'm in actual pain. He IMMEDIATELY got defensive and said we discussed that I could be in more pain afterwards and that's what in my chart. I explained that's not true you told me it may not solve the problem and that I may need a root canal and he just kept defending himself. Then said he didn't want to do the appt that day because I was in pain and that I needed to come back. AGAIN...who has that kind of time?? I said it needed to be done that day because again I didn't eat and my husband was home with our 1 year old. He asked if I had any sensitivity to hot or cold or trouble biting on that tooth or brushing and I said no. He said "put that in her chart" and then got started. Once again they refused to put me at a comfortable level with the nitrous. My appt was at 9am...and by 9:11 they said that we either start or I need to come back. I called my husband crying. They just don't care and I guess why should they I already paid in full. I said go ahead and then mentally checked out. For anyone who has ever suffered trauma, like being beaten or raped (sorry for being so graphic) they understand what its like to check out mentally and just wait and pray for it to be over. This is horrifyingly the best way I can explain my experience there. Just waited and prayed for him to be done... When the torture was over, I needed pain meds because I was NOT going home again to suffer in pain and have my 2 daughters witness me crying in agony. I couldn't take NSAIDS because I already was on them for a shoulder injury and that would put me at a greater risk for stomach bleeding and ulcers. I couldn't take Norco because I already take them for arthritis and refuse to take more than the prescribed dosage and they didn't break the pain after my 1st appt. He basically made me feel like a pill popping druggy because he wanted the name of my pharmacy to call them and find out what meds I'm on, my primary care physician's number, to "inquire" about what meds I can take (or am taking or have taken as far as I'm concerned), and my rheumatologist. Then he prescribed me Percocet at such a low dosage that multiple pharmacies didn't even dispense them! Wound up having to drive back for a new rx, once he again, called the pharmacy 1st to check. I felt so violated and sick to my stomach. Today is the day after the permanent crown was put in and now I have hot/cold sensitivity and cant brush. I called this morning around 10a to seek help and got a call 8 hrs later, about 30 min ago (when I started writing this because I'm infuriated) saying if the pain doesn't go away he's just gonna send me to see a endodontost. So basically he created pain, won't fix it, and is just gonna pawn me off to someone else who is also going to charge me hundreds of dollars no doubt to fix his shotty work. I am APPAULED and DISGUSTED and took the time to write this long review to save anyone else I can from being exposed to this quack of a dentist! He doesn't care about you, I...
Read moreIâm not 100% sure what just happened. My family and I have been with Modern Dentistry for over 8 years, I transferred services from another state.
I met with orthodontist Mohamed Adel several weeks ago. 1st consult, we met each other and after my consultation, he stated Iâd not be in braces for more than six months- and I was excited. Since Iâm also getting my second implant there, I wanted providers to collaborate on care. Mohamed Adel scheduled a second appointment for me to consult with the dentist/surgeon and him about spacing.
I had already started treatment and wanted to transfer everything to Glade Modern for peace of mind. My lower already has braces on and has been treated. According, to the orthopedist, they are âperfectâ. My top teeth were just treated however not properly as the dentist at Glade stated âthey could and should be straighterâ hence why we are hereâŚ
Fast forward to my follow-up appointment with both professionals (dentist and Mohamed Adel). Once meeting with them, Adel was ready for my braces, however, I had questions about the pricing. After the consultation earlier, the receptionist gave me my dental plan/pricing sheet and it priced out for 12 months and on my top and bottom teeth which is NOT what Adel discussed or my situation. He seemed irritated I had questions about billing instead of allowing him to proceed. I have no question about Mohamed Adeâs professional ability, however, his respect, professionalism, and transparency were not his best attributes during âmyâ appointment. I simply wanted to ensure I understood the billing. After over an hour of waiting, calling my insurance company, and being told âI donât handle thatâ or âyouâll have to ask him/herâ I finally got up and told the receptionist Iâd like to reschedule once we confirmed everything with insurance. I had been at work all day and it was well after 6 pm. I explained that I had spoken to my insurance company and that they should have a CPT code to bill patients as service is rendered which generally is a minimum of 6 months v. 12 months plus ways to modify treatment given each patientâs case may be different.
I few days later I received a call from the office assistant/receptionist and after she spoke with a peer in the office my dental plan miraculously dropped by over $900. I was rescheduled for 2/8 at 8 am and thanked them for looking into everything.
So, this SATURDAY morning I had an 8 am appointment. When I arrived, I was greeted with a smile and sat down. She called my name and when I got up there she stated, âYouâre gonna be mad.â I was confused and asked why and she told me âHe does not want to treat you, he feels like you are going to challenge him/not allow him to treat you how he sees fitâ (or something to this effect). I was puzzled, sleepy, and asked âWhy⌠outside of me questioning how my treatment went from less than 6 months to at least 12 months I havenât asked him anythingâŚâ Besides the fact my inquiry showed that he was in fact charging me for things I did NOT need hence my plan cost being decreased by nearly $1000.00!
I asked to speak to him because this was an inconvenience and I wanted him and the dentist there to treat me together⌠however, she went to his door, saw me standing there, shut the door briefly to later come out to tell me, âhis in a conference with another providerâŚâ lol really?!!!. Like why would he be in a conference during my appointment? Again, the lack of transparency is troubling. Just be professional and say he doesnât want to speak with you.
Most importantly, I âshouldâ be able to ask billing or treatment questions - I have that right. âInquiringâ is not âchallengingâ unless the inquirer is disrespectful or aggressive, I was neither...Yes, he has a PhD, however, heâs a person just like me. I should be able to ask questions about my care without the fear of him/her feeling âchallenged â - questions and clarification should be okay in a patient/provider...

Alright, so...
This review is based on the billing, nothing more or less. As I reviewed below, the customer service, the cleanliness, and the staff are all wonderful. The care they put into their patients seems genuine, just as the type of care; or maybe that's where it gets questionable. With what I'm here to share, it may sound as if, I'm contradicting myself.
Now, billing. I'll say this, now. I'm very grateful I understand medical billing, even with this being dental; some things follow suit.
On: 10-28-23- They took over my treatment (my braces were already on, I moved and needed to find a new Orthodontist)
X-rays were taken at the same time.
Nothing needed to be corrected or changed, I picked up from where I left off. Meaning, that being charged for services as if I was starting as a brand-new patient, wasn't necessary.
06-2024: My braces came off - I had a full cleaning. At that time, they wanted to do another complete set of X-rays. I mentioned, that I had them done in October of 23, and the insurance will not cover another set within the same year. They said that would not be a problem and if so, they'll take care of it at that time. I will have to deal with that on my own, I should have asked for that in writing and I didn't. Needless to say, the insurance did not cover those sets of X-rays.
I was also, looking at what was submitted to the insurance and what was billable/paid. From the dates above 10/28 - 06/20: They billed my insurance a total of $9,094.
$76 - Oral Hygiene Instructions: This is something I was billed for, but I'm a grown adult, I know how to take care of my teeth and should not have been billed for this. My insurance did not cover this and I will not, either.
$22 - Fluoride: This is something I get once a year and will pay for out of pocket, but this is something I was not told would not be covered by the insurance. However, I already knew this.
I am faithful to getting my teeth cleaned every six months, with my prior dentist, I've never had this issue. I always knew what my costs were before my cleaning and my costs were only for my, fluoride. If you choose to visit this office, I'd suggest you get the procedure codes for what will be done, YOU, call your dental provider and get the coverage information for those codes.
When it comes to Orthodontics, I would suggest you look elsewhere. Again, their staff is wonderful, and the customer service is excellent; but when my money is being mishandled, that cancels out...
