Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center — Attraction in Fairbanks

We came here to kill time before a red eye flight, on the recommendation of a 30-year Fairbanks local. We weren't expecting much for a free visitor center, but we were so impressed by this place. It's modern, clean, and vast, with genuinely interesting and immersive exhibits, as well as a movie theater showing interesting history and culture (the theater itself was far more comfortable - and empty - than the $20 Museum of the North's theater which we had just come from). There is also a small shop featuring amazing artisan crafts by first nations people. Overall this is an excellent place for anyone with spare time in Fairbanks looking to warm or rest up after a late night chasing Aurora before a red eye flight. Highly...

Lovely building. The ice structure's posted near one of the entrance is amazing. It was definitely worth taking pictures. To the side of the structure's is a cute little cabin. I am not sure if it is available to the public as the door was locked. Inside the Center, I watched a documentary on Dog mushing. I carefully explored the exhibit. Reading every display. Taking tons of pictures. I also got to listen to stories from a Native that works there. Afterwards, I ended the trip with a fridge magnet that I bought from the gift store. I love the paintings but! lame as hell!! no actual information about alaska in my opinion and i live here. theirs a empty prebuilt cabin inside, a representation of the northern light(kinda), a tundra scene that should have been updated 20 years ago(they have oil money and grants so theirs no excuse not to) and a gift shop with "authentic" native gift....for 40 dollars lol, some pictures of the northern light for sale for 97.00 that arent any better than the one i took with my iphone! its a place to scam tourists out of there time and money and make them think this is the alaska experience. the most culture there is a bush plane hanging from the celing...no thanks and thanks for the...
