I always have poor customer service experiences when I go to Ulta, but by the time I need to go get something I inevitably forget, only to quickly be reminded by having another poor experience.
Often when I've asked for help finding something or for a recommendation, the staff just isn't very personable and borderline rude.
I went tonight and they were sold out of the eye pencil I get but I still decided to ask if it may just not be stocked. She checked and came back to let me know it was out. I asked what she would recommend in its place and she said to hold on because she'd check one last place to make sure they were definitely sold out. I waited awhile until I finally went to look for her and she was behind the counter ringing people out and the person who had been the cashier was gone.
I walked up to her and mentioned I had waited and she said she was sorry but her coworker stepped away and now she's the only one and can't leave, but took the time to use her radio to ask the girls in the back to check one more time.
I went back to find a substitute on my own and she appeared and helped me. I went to check out and now there are three girls behind the register - the one who helped me and two others. One of the other girls rings me out but is talking to her coworker (possibly a supervisor from what I gathered) and wasn't nice to me at all. She rang my two items then curtly asked if I was buying the one in my hand. I told her it was what I was trying to replace but you're out. She went, "Oh. $26.20." Didn't ask if I found everything okay or engaged me in anyway like you should with a customer. She just kept talking to the other coworker and treating me like a bother.
I went, oh and I have this coupon and put my phone out and she went, "Answer the question on the screen" and seemed annoyed scanning my barcode.
After I finished, I went I noticed it said there's a free gift if you spend so much? (There was literally a tag stating this on every single NYX item). She went No. It's not in yet. I went oh okay. Can I come back for it when it's in? The other lady said No. We can't do that. The girl who was originally helping me overheard and went, "NYX? We have them." And got me one.
Basically, they just walked away and helped other people while I stood there, were rude and ignoring customers they rang out and said no about items without even checking.
I'm pretty patient since I worked as a cashier in a grocery store and I've worked in retail and the atmosphere in Ulta is uninviting and the employees are rude and dismissive.
I go for convenience but I'll budget time to drive out of my way to go to Sephora before I go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreToday I went to Ulta in the Waterfront. I bought 6 things, one of which was an espresso colored rely liner by Too Faced Cosmetics. I was supposed to get a free gift with purchase, but they were out. So I was in line a long time as they searched for one, then paid and left without the gift.
I left the store with my husband, and looked in my bag while walking to a diner party across the street at Yokoso. I needed to use the eyeliner, so I opened the box, and it was completely empty! Someone stole the eyeliner out of the box. My husband continued to our diner party. Of course I turned around and went back to the store. I approached the first employee I saw and told her. She was shocked and wasnāt sure what to do, so she asked. The Manager said this happened to someone else earlier today! They unfortunately were out of the color I needed, and I got a new color. They searched the store and back room which took quite a while. The line was super long. The Manager legit expected me to wait in line again, to exchange an empty box they sold me for a new one instead of taking care of it right then. She said, it will go fast. I explained I was heading to a diner party people are waiting one me, and I already waited in line, and paid, you sold me an empty box and apparently this already happened to someone else today. She said, āI donāt want to upset the customers in line by taking you first.ā. Seriously? YOU sold me an empty box! I guess only some customerās getting upset matter? Only the ones who are in line, not the ones you donāt have the free items promised to, or that you sold empty boxes of make up to? They ended up ringing me up at the end, and seriously tried to sell me a credit card I was pre-approved for. Why would I get that card after this experience?
Suggestion to Ulta, maybe check boxes while ringing people up if this is a known issue. Also, if youāre out of the free gifts, give another one (they didnāt). Also, if you mess something like this up, try to make it right without being rude. Why make your customer wait this long, and stand in line again? I think some customer service classes would be good for your team...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to this salon over the summer and had a great experience, but unfortunately my stylist left, and I had to schedule with someone new. Before I even went to the store my new stylist, Parima, called to push my appointment back an hour, because there was a scheduling issue and she wouldn't be finished with the client before me by the time my appointment was originally scheduled. I offered to come in another day, because I wasn't available to come in later, but she told me she would actually be able to see me at the same time after all.
Once I arrived, it was clear she was in a rush, and her previous client was still there with her hair color processing. Parima began to cut my hair, and she completed the back and part of one side when I asked if we could go about an inch shorter on the length now that I saw what the side looked like. Parima was extremely rude, said it would be like giving me a whole second haircut, and continued to complain about my request. She told me I would have to wait until she was completely finished with her other client if I really wanted her to change the length. I told her to just finish the cut, because I was so upset and couldnāt believe how rude she was. Every other stylist at any salon Iāve gone to has always asked me what I think of the length throughout the cut and will make adjustments without a problem if Iāve asked. Itās not like I waited until my hair was completely cut, dried, and styled to tell her⦠In addition, if she was not able to give quality service to two clients, she should not have been seen both of us at the same time. This was a terrible experience, and I left with a haircut I didnāt want. I would highly recommend scheduling with anyone else but Parima if you are thinking of getting a...
