To explain it simply: My gf, her friend (also female) and I had came to this Macy's to buy my gf clothes for an interview. My gf was changing in the changing room while her friend and I were waiting in the waiting area. Moments later, a worker came in telling me I needed to leave the waiting area because there were ladies that needed to use the changing room and felt uncomfortable. I dont see how me sitting in the waiting area on my phone was disturbing anyone's peace. I looked around and didn't see any signage that prohibited me from being in there. I spoke to management asking if the changing room was women's only? She said no. Regardless of past situations, patiently waiting is displaying none of those. So clearly, training or some form of discussion needs to happen. If only one gender can be in the fitting room area at a time, then signs and a person need to be present at every fitting room that's open. If that worker was just sexist, then she needs a talking to and maybe more. The fact that I've gone to this Macy's my whole life and between all of my family, the thousands that has been spent just for me to be told I cant be in the fitting room waiting area because she didnt want me there. Management said I was okay to be there. I wasn't reckless, disturbing, or basically even there, just waiting for my gf who occasionally walked out and asked me and her friend our opinion on her outfits. We still spent $200 today, but if you're male, you're unable to use the fitting rooms is the message I got today. The next time I go, either every fitting room be segregated or with a worker present.
5 Stars and thanks, Amelia, for your help trying to resolve the situation, but that worker ruined my perception of Macy's, especially Ala Moana location.
I should've asked for the employee's name or told her no off the bat, but unfortunately I trusted that I had missed some policy that she was enforcing. That wasn't the case and I wish that worker would imagine her son, boyfriend, or husband experiencing this situation. Also mind you, 5 different women had used the fitting rooms while i was waiting and there wasn't an altercation or anything between any of them.
Im also a 24 year old black male thats attending UH, but surely Macy's isn't racist, maybe...
Read moreThe plus size department for women has extremely low quality clothing that in addition is purchased in the ugliest of colors. It is merchandised improperly for the local climate which is hot and sticky.in winter they even sell heavy wool sweaters despite the temp of 84 degrees. Perhaps they should simply shut down. since at this point what they are selling is a few notches worse than Walmart or Target. Their shoes also do not offer size wide for women and are of extremely low quality regardless of their high price. Intimate department bras should go up to at least size 48 but typically only go up to size 3. Nightgowns should go to at least size 3x .makeuo departments do not provide proper means to try out testers by not having applicators and they don't bother much to give samples when they are asked for. The spaces between the racks are inadequate for disabled with walkers or wheelchairs and no electric shopping carts are available for the disabled. Men are permitted in the women's dressing rooms with their wives which is wrong for other women who may be then seen in various stages of undressed. If a gift receipt is given with a gift and the recipient of the gift brings it back to Macy's for any reason Macys will put the amount paid for the gift back on a person's credit card leaving the recipient of the gift with no gift card or anything else it's just like turning the gift back in and not getting anything in its place because Macys will return the amount of money paid for the gift back to the purchasers credit card or debit card rather than putting it on a gift card for the person whom received the gift who wants to exchange it. Quite honestly I get sick and tired of having to go back and forth to Macys every single day to try to figure out what the best sale day is. Even when the sale lasts 3 days all weekend the prices change each day which is just plain old annoying. Maybe they should just find a reasonable price for the item and put it at that price and leave...
Read moreI like Macy's until I have to go to the cash register to checkout.
"Do you have a Macy's Card? No? Would you like to sign up for one? You can save 10%...." blah blah blah.
Me: For the 20th time, I'm not interested.
Macy's: "Are you sure?" On and on and on.
Finally, we get to the purchasing, and it's all "Enter your Phone Number for Rewards!"
Me: Cancel.
Macy's: "Would you like to donate money to a charity of our choice?"
Me: For eff sake, can I just simply buy this item? Can I simply give you money and you give me the item and we both go our ways? Why do I need to be pestered for a stupid Macy's card? Why do I need to be pestered to donate to charity? Why do I need to be pressured for my phone number? The management needs to get a grip. You guys turn a 20 second transaction into a 3 minute fiasco which ends up making me frustrated and vowing to just shop online.
You know what? I once had a Macy's Card and received a whole pile of "rewards" points, and then one day I showed up to buy my kid a pile of school clothes, and it was over $350, and guess what? Your useless "rewards" points didn't apply to one item I purchased. I bought Nike, Reebok, etc...."Oh, sorry sir, our points only apply to the worthless "store brand" items that no one wants, not name brand items.
Hence, I cancelled my Macy's Card and used your rewards coupons in my bathroom, if you get what I'm saying, where they actually...
