Magic Island Beach is the family friendly beach choice in the Ala Moana area. It is just the right size for when you need to keep an eye on your children. The water was clear. It is such a beautiful spot. You have views of Diamond head. We had a wonderful time here. We caught ‘The Bus’ here. It was about a 5 min walk from the bus stop. But if you drive, there are plenty of parking stalls (Spots) You can have a picnic on the grassy area. There are restrooms too, which is always handy when you have children with you. We will definitely go back to this beach as it is not as crowded as the main beach in Waikiki.

A must do for anyone visiting Honolulu with small kids. The beach is designed with a wall of rocks to break waves and ensure the water is calm. It’s crystal clear and there’s amenities available (toilet, shower, change room etc). The water stays shallow til quite far out, we even managed to find a sunken boat about 3/4 out with tonnes of fish around it. Bring a snorkel if you have one! Getting there is easy by bus, a 5/10 minute walk from the stop and there’s plenty of free parking nearby if you’re driving.

Omg I love this spot! We came here for the capoeria workshop and had a blast. I haven't spent much time at Ala Monana beach park because I really dislike crowds, but lately I have been having wanderlust so I am venturing all over the place where there are tons of people. There were so many activities going on, I felt like a kid in a playground--I wanted to play and talk to so many people. Anyways, back to the park. I noticed that this place is a great spot for families to come to. We all participated in the class, and cannot wait for the night market performances. We had a blast at the beach, and even saw a woman catch an eel. I want to come back here in the wee hours of the morning and train out here. such a...

I used to love this park and always thought it was one of the cleanest and most beautiful places in the area. But when I came back recently, I was shocked—it’s completely ruined. The park is now filled with tents set up by the homeless, surrounded by piles of trash. The ground is damaged, the grass is destroyed, and litter is scattered everywhere across the lawn. It’s clear that this place has been completely abandoned and left without any care or responsibility from those who are supposed to manage it. Anyone who visits now would be stunned at how badly this park has been neglected and how far...
