Newport Centre in Jersey City is a well-rounded shopping destination that offers a convenient and enjoyable experience for locals and visitors alike. With a variety of stores, dining options, and entertainment, it’s a solid choice for a day of shopping or leisure.
Pros: One of the highlights of Newport Centre is its diverse range of stores. Whether you’re looking for popular fashion brands, electronics, or specialty shops, you’ll find a good selection here. Anchor stores like Macy’s and JCPenney provide reliable options, while the mix of other retailers ensures there’s something for everyone, from high-end to more budget-friendly options. The mall is spacious and generally well-maintained, with a clean and modern design that makes for a pleasant shopping environment.
The food court offers a variety of dining options, from quick bites to sit-down meals, catering to different tastes and preferences. It’s a great spot to refuel during a shopping spree, with choices that range from fast food favorites to more health-conscious options.
Newport Centre is also home to an AMC movie theater, which adds an extra layer of entertainment. It’s convenient to be able to catch a movie after a day of shopping without having to leave the mall. The location is another big plus—the mall is easily accessible by public transportation, including the PATH train, and there’s ample parking for those driving in.
Cons: One downside is that the mall can get quite crowded, especially on weekends and during sales events, which can make the shopping experience less enjoyable. While the variety of stores is good, some visitors may find the selection a bit limited compared to larger malls in the region. Additionally, the layout of the mall, with multiple levels, can sometimes be a bit confusing to navigate, particularly for first-time visitors.
The dining options, while varied, could benefit from more upscale or unique offerings, as the current selection leans heavily toward standard mall fare. Also, during peak times, the food court can become quite busy, making it difficult to find seating.
Overall: Newport Centre provides a four-star shopping experience that combines convenience with a solid mix of stores, dining, and entertainment options. While it can get crowded and might not have the largest selection compared to other malls, its accessible location and well-maintained facilities make it a reliable choice for a day out. Read moreThis mall is the best mall I’ve ever been to, and I lived 15 mins away from a mall for 17 years of my life. I come all the way from Brooklyn to shop here because it’s just a more pleasant mall, and ironically enough it is closer by transit than some malls physically closer to me.
There’s no more Sears or JCPenny in the mall by me and this mall has both and they look as well kept as most stores used to keep their products. The food options are endless, and they’re all good. The atmosphere when you walk around this mall is absolutely amazing, there are tons of skylights and windows throughout the mall and one main atrium that let in tons of natural light so it feels open and not dark and uninviting. Even when the weather is nasty, it still doesn’t feel as dark as most malls.
The PATH train is a short walk away via a sky bridge connection and an annexation of a building across the street where the subway is across the street. From that station alone you have the Orange line and the green line. The green line takes you between Hoboken and World Trade Center, where the orange line takes you from Herald Square (Sixth Ave orange trains and yellow Broadway trains) all the way to journal square. As well as there is a connection to the HBLR...
