A Gastronomic Journey: Chef Tan Newport Review
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
Chef Tan in Newport is a true culinary gem that brings a delightful fusion of flavors to the heart of the city. From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was captivated by the warm and inviting ambiance, reflecting the passion and creativity that Chef Tan brings to his craft.
The menu at Chef Tan boasts an exquisite selection of dishes that blend traditional Asian flavors with modern culinary techniques. As a fan of Asian cuisine, I was excited to explore the unique offerings and was not disappointed.
To start my gastronomic journey, I ordered the Crispy Tofu Bites as an appetizer. The tofu was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, complemented by a tangy and slightly spicy dipping sauce that added a burst of flavor.
For the main course, I opted for the Pan-Seared Miso Salmon, and it was an absolute delight. The salmon was cooked to perfection, with a caramelized glaze that enhanced its natural richness. Served atop a bed of sautéed vegetables and fragrant jasmine rice, the dish was a harmonious symphony of tastes and textures.
Chef Tan's expertise in blending flavors was further showcased in the Roasted Vegetable Stir-Fry, a dish that catered to both vegetarians and vegans. The medley of colorful vegetables was cooked just right, retaining their freshness and natural sweetness, while the ginger-infused sauce brought a delightful zest to the ensemble.
What impressed me the most was Chef Tan's attention to detail in presentation. Each plate was a work of art, meticulously arranged to stimulate the eyes before tantalizing the taste buds.
The service at Chef Tan was impeccable, with the staff being attentive, courteous, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were more than willing to accommodate special dietary requests and offered valuable suggestions, ensuring a personalized dining experience for each guest.
The restaurant's ambiance is warm and welcoming, making it an ideal spot for a romantic dinner, a family celebration, or a friendly gathering. Whether dining indoors or on the cozy outdoor patio, the setting was perfect for enjoying a memorable meal.
In terms of pricing, Chef Tan offers excellent value for the quality of the food and service provided. While it may be considered a fine dining experience, the overall experience justifies the cost.
In conclusion, Chef Tan in Newport is a culinary haven for food enthusiasts seeking an extraordinary dining experience. With its delectable fusion of flavors, inviting ambiance, and impeccable service, Chef Tan has firmly established itself as a must-visit restaurant in the city. I wholeheartedly recommend Chef Tan to anyone looking for a memorable gastronomic journey that will leave a...
Read moreThe food is great and I've been there many times. However, one experience today entirely ruined my trust to this restaurant, and I am changing my review from 5 stars to 1 star. I went to Chef Tan Jersey City today at 8:50pm, after checking their website as well as Google Map to confirm that they won't close until 9:30pm. When I walked in, the "OPEN" sign is shining brightly. However, after seeing us and ask how many of us we were (it were two of us), the hostess told us that we can only order to go, as they are no longer seating anyone for dining in.
This just killed it for me. I've been never been to a restaurant that refuse to sit us 40 minutes before their closing time. Yes, I've been to McDonalds or Popeyes and got told that they are closed 20 minutes before their posted closing time, but those are fast food chains. A decent restaurant, which treasures customer trust will never do this.
To be fair, I think the only person to blame is the hostess, who probably want to get off work early. I've been to restaurant when it was about to close and got told that I can't add to my order later since the kitchen is closing. This is understandable. But the hostess refused to seat us while the kitchen is still working? That's entirely overstepping her power and responsibility.
We live not far away, although I already paid for street parking nearby. But imagine someone who drive 40 minutes here only to be turned away? Maybe this restaurant is only good at to-go orders, so they won't need to seat any...
Read moreOverall, the food was very good. I was delighted with the portion sizes and the flavors! I went around lunch time, and it was only me and one other person dining in, but the service was lackluster. After my server took my initial order, I did not interact with her for the remainder of my dining experience. A food runner brought out my food and the host brought me my check when I was ready. She never came back over to ask if I was enjoying the food, or if I needed anything. Another thing that bothered me was being charged something different than what was reflected on the menu. I bought a beer, which was priced at $5 but was $8 when I got my bill. When I asked about the discrepancy, I was told that the menu hadn’t been updated and that’s the new price. Granted, it’s only a $3 difference, but I don’t like surprises when I get the bill and if the menu is not going to reflect your new price for something, then at the very least the server should inform patrons. I did not think the response I got was sufficient because I take menu pricing transparency seriously and I don’t think it’s fair to essentially trick people into paying more than what they agreed to. All in all, the food was delicious with sizable portions but poor service and surprises on the bill can affect the dining experience enough to not have people return. (Scallion beef with veggie...
