A terrible experience with this store and all of Home Depot online ordering. Probably the worst online ordering/delivery experience Iâve ever experienced. I highly recommend shopping somewhere else.
I placed an order for shelving parts on Jan 5th. They were scheduled for delivery Jan 6, but I received a delivery email saying they âmissed meâ which doesnât make sense because I live in a doorman building and no signature was required. When I called to figure out what happened the 800 number customer service person told me that actually the delivery had never even been attempted. Well then why did it say it was?
They told me the delivery would be rescheduled for the next day, which was already 12 days after it was supposed to originally be delivered.
I then received an email saying the delivery was completed with line items of each thing I had ordered being marked as delivered as well as a delivery confirmation photo of several shelving items in my lobby. I then ordered a task rabbit to come and install/mount the shelf. When the task rabbit came they saw that 3/6 shelves were missing as well as the 3 vertical rails that are necessary to install the shelf. I had to pay the task rabbit 75 dollars for an hour of their time (when they couldnât do anything) and the service fee. Why would the email say completed and that every single item was delivered, when 6 items were missing?
When I called the Home Depot 800 number (now my second Home Depot call) again they said that theyâd contact the store the items had shipped from, the Holland Tunnel/Jersey city location. They told me theyâd set up the delivery for the next day. I never received an email or anything in the mail, so I called the store directly.
The person on the phone first told me to wait because they were eating and I listened to them chew for a while and then they told me that their store had sent the three missing shelves to the Secaucus Home Depot store rather than to me. When I asked why she said âi donât know but we did and now you have to contact them about it.â I asked about the other three items, the vertical rails, the person said their store didnât have them and that maybe the Secaucus store might and sheâd call them and call me back. They called me back a while later and said the other store did not have them and theyâd have to refund me for those.
I told the person that I donât want a refund and need those items from whichever store/department carries them because otherwise the shelves are useless. I asked to speak to a manager who told me verbatim that no stores carry that item, there is nothing she can do, she already refunded me for those, and then she hung up the phone on me.
I called the 800 number again and someone told me that the manager from the Holland Store had âfibbedâ (so, lied to me) and they actually have 11 vertical rails of that size in stock and that Iâd need to purchase them again and pay the delivery fee again, and if I wanted to have the delivery fee waived, Iâd need to call the store who handles that. I needed those rails, so I ordered it again, spent time on the phone ordering and giving my cc and billing info etc, and paid the extra delivery fee for this new order. While on hold the person hangs up on me, so I have to call again, explain again, talk again, etc. After calling 4 times and no one answering, finally Joanna a manager provides NO explanation/apology for why the store lied to me saying the item was out of stock, says I should be grateful and satisfied because they would waive the delivery fee on this new order (which I should have had to make). I asked for a partial refund/ discount for my time, energy, inconvenience, the emails, the lie that the missing item was out of stock, the refund and forced extra order with new delivery fee, the number of phone calls, hours of my days, the confusion between the stores and departments, the disrespect of the store staff and managers Iâd spoken to, the manager said that I could just choose to not shop at Home Depot anymore!? They can just fix this with a...

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding an incident that occurred at the Home Depot location in Jersey City, NJ, today at approximately 4:37 PM.
My husband was at the store to pick up a DoorDash order, and I was on FaceTime with him throughout the visit, which allowed me to observe the interaction in real time. During checkout, two female employees of apparent Indian descent repeatedly hovered over my husband on two separate occasions, watching him closely and making him feel uncomfortable and singled out.
What was particularly concerning is that there were other customers nearby, including a Filipino man, a Hispanic couple, and a white couple â who were not approached, hovered over, or treated in this manner. My husband felt that the behavior was racially motivated and covertly discriminatory, as there was no valid reason for this repeated attention while he was simply trying to complete his pickup.
From an outside perspective, the situation looked inappropriate and biased, as though my husband was being unfairly profiled or monitored based on his appearance rather than his actions. Such treatment is unacceptable, especially in a place of business that should value inclusivity, professionalism, and respect for all customers.
I am requesting that this incident be reviewed and properly investigated. Please ensure that staff at this location receive appropriate training on implicit bias, respectful customer interaction, and anti-discrimination practices.
I would also appreciate written confirmation that this complaint has been received and that the issue is being addressed.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Read moreI would love a new washer dryer, however The Home Depot âfree deliveryâ service of appliances is horrendous. We have had 3 attempts this past week to get our new washer dryer, however Home Depotâs delivery company is incompetent.
Delivery Fail 1: The first time, they had the washer dryer on the sidewalk outside our home, but couldnât deliver because one guy had to stay in the truck? How does this make sense to send only 1 man to deliver, install and remove a 600lbs washer dryer? This also happened while my husband was on the phone with Home Depot talking with the customer service rep insisting the truck would be fine, as a cop was standing right there saying it wouldnât get a ticket.
Delivery Fail 2: We requested a delivery window after 1:30pm, delivery folks show up at 10am. This is after confirming with the Home Depot rep multiple times.
Delivery Fail 3: Again requested a delivery window anytime after 1:30pm. Delivery folks show up at 12:45 and wonât wait until I get home at 1:30. The customer service rep then suggested they just leave the 600lbs washer dryer on the sidewalk for us. So now they imagine we can remove our existing washer dryer from a 2 story walk up and install the new one with no tools or supplies. SERIOUSLY?!?!
I am so furious right now at the lack of intelligence and useless customer service we have gotten from Home Depot.
We had to cancel the order because they couldnât promise us a different company would deliver our already paid...
