Smokeshows Nitro Ice Cream — Restaurant in Jim Thorpe

The ice cream was of good quality but unfortunately not quite what we ordered.

My partner and I stopped by after seeing such a great rating on google and we each ordered a cup of ice cream. I went for the Tiramisu flavor in regular size and my partner ordered a large Dutch chocolate ice cream with peanut butter sauce. I was handed the tiramisu cup first, then was pretty confused to see it was completely white like vanilla ice cream (most often tiramisu implies cookies/lady fingers but most of all, espresso) though I figured I’d give it the chance as toppings might be buried or mixed in. Spoiler alert— they weren’t, it was just vanilla soft-serve.

To be fair, my partner’s ice cream was given as ordered, though the flavor was weak and there was not much peanut butter sauce (about a teaspoon).

Another confusing factor was that we were both given the same size, even though my order was a regular and the other a large. This in mind, I assume we were charged for two large cups, though we couldn’t tell for sure as the only thing presented to us was a tap pay terminal (no screen to show the total). In the moment, we weren’t compelled to ask as we’re more than happy to support a local small business, though I tried to call the phone number online twice to have my questions answered after we had walked away (I didn’t want to put the proprietor on-the-spot in front of other customers) but the phone wasn’t answered.

My husband and I had the pleasure of trying something new to us last night. We enjoyed the Caramel Apple Ice Cream at SmokeShows Nitro Ice Cream in Jim Thorpe, PA. The proprietress was warm and engaging and passionate about her product. She made it right in front of us using all natural ingredients. Excellent, super creamy ice cream with a flair! Not only is the food truck set up aesthetically delightful with its neon lights and unique shape, you also get a foggy smoke show as they're preparing your treat . The owners are great too!
