Russell Stover Peanut Butter Egg: Russell Stover has been going strong for almost 100 years as the company was born in Denver, CO in 1923. Around this time of year the company’s major product is its famous chocolate marshmallow eggs. Today I have a version that’s stuffed not with marshmallow, but peanut butter. The taste of the outer shell is a sweet milk chocolate flavor. Biting into the egg divulges that the thin chocolate exterior contains a sugary, peanut butter filling. Texturally the filling is similar to Reese's as it is solid, slightly gritty, and not at all runny or very creamy. It's peanut butter flavor is different from Reese's distinct flavor, but it's not bad. Overall I enjoyed this egg and I’m glad I had it in my basket. If you crave peanut butter as much as I do then this one is for you, Doughboy approved *Russell Stover previously made a "Peanut Butter Creme Egg", but it appears to be now discontinued. I liked the "creme" version better as it distinguished itself from Reese's by having a delicious liquid-like peanut butter filling. I've included a picture of it as well for those interested in seeing it. Read moreUsed to love Whitman and Russell Stovers but I think that’s about done now! Been waiting since January 5th for a “Gift certificate” in the mail so I can get something that’s actually worth eating not a faulty package! Literally purchased the Whitmans assorted sampler big box and all the chocolates were off the bottoms of all the crèmes were hollow or pushed in. I had one tray that had peanuts and then one that had 2 chocolate covered peanuts in it! All I want is what I paid for. I’ve let it go and it’s been 3 months now and you always say the same thing…”we have to wait for our gift certificates to come in the mail which takes 4-6 weeks” it’s been 3 months come on if you don’t want to mail me the gift certificate then stop saying that stop sending the same message, I can clearly tell by the emails it’s not a big deal to you guys but I can’t work I’m disabled and have cancer so what money I spend is tight and I was having a bad day and decided I’d buy myself some chocolate, just to be more upset that I spent $$ on faulty chocolate! Now I’m done being a karen that’s just crazy it takes a company this long and I’m sorry I don’t believe it. You went from a 5 star to a 1...
Read moreJust did a quick research when I read the complaints from long term customers. Talks of less nuts, more cream and coconut, half the size , and lots more plastic fill in. Come to find out company was sold in 2014 to Swiss chocolate makers , Lindt. Large plant was closed in 2021. So they are to blame for the quality going way down. Seems like it has become more about the profit. I have not been a fan of this company but am a fan of chocolate so I did a quick research for the love of chocolate and the followers of this company who are noticing a quality difference. I welcome you all to come on over to Godiva! I don’t think you will be disappointed with quality but price will be a rough pill to swallow but every bite is worth it to me on...
