You know, when I was a kid, I distinctly remember going on some ride, and I don't remember if it was just the monorail between parks, or the people mover, but it went through this gift shop that was covered floor to tall, TALL ceiling in Disney merchandise. And, this place is the closest place I've been able to find to that ever since. Not the same place, no, but really similar. Kinda easy to lose someone in the store, it's a big store, maybe either keep kids that wander from you on a safety tether or attach a balloon to them or something?
World of Disney is a pretty good store for what it is, a giant Disney gift shop. Matter of fact, if you're going to go to get Disney merch with your Disney Rewards Points from your credit card, Disney Springs as a whole is a great place if you're local and just really dislike online shopping. Hence 4 stars. (I'd give 5, but my sister's bag sets off their alarms. No clue why, it's a normal bag purchased at one of their theme parks, so I always feel like that's a little odd).
However, If you are cool with online shopping, a lot of the stuff in the store and in Disney Springs is also on the website. Not all of it, but a good chunk of it. That's also a pretty good place to use the rewards points. Especially during this month since the site has a code that gives you 20% off that I don't think the World of Disney Store has, plus free shipping on orders over a certain amount, which is not hard to reach at Disney prices.
Or, if you aren't shopping on Disney Rewards Points, some of the brands Disney works with for the merch on the site also have their own websites with Disney merch at a fraction of the price. It's not the same products themselves, but they're also not knock offs, being the same producers and all, and do seem to be of reasonable quality.
Yes I am suggesting alternatives even while giving a good review. In-person shopping is what this place provides and it provides that well. I suggest the alternatives too because if that's not what you're looking for, then other options are going to leave you...
Read moreI usually like the overview of this store, it's large & there are tons of Disney merchandise to browse. However everytime I'm here the cast members are never kind or helpful, they all act bothered that we decided to shop there. I thought helpfulness & kindness was something that Disney prides itself on.
Yesterday I had the most unpleasant experience with a cast member. Approximately at 4:56pm, 11.27.2021 on registster 6. I was not able to see her name because her hair was covering her entire name tag. But she had brown hair, looked hispanic & was a little on the heavier side.
As usual the store was crowded and busy, and there was a long line for check out. As the guests ahead of me finished up their purchase and exited register 6, I began to walk up. Once I got there she did not smile nor greet me. She rolled her eyes and shouted "YOU NEED TO WAIT FOR THE NUMBER TO CHANGE" at first I wasn't aware of what she was talking about and I said im sorry what do you mean and she pointed over me to show me the number sign, which said "6". I apologized as I didn't see it, but it already said 6 and the guests ahead of me were gone so I wasn't sure why she was being so mean about it. She rolled her eyes, scanned my item and said "$45". She basically threw the item bag at me without saying anything and I took it and walked out.
I understand if you're having a bad day because your store is busy but don't take it out on the guests who are spending literal thousands just to be in the...
Read moreI wanted to share with any Disney customers who may be thinking about using the World of Disney Store for shipping items to your home. I just went through a month long waiting period, in addition to several emails, & many phone calls with Disney’s merchandise guest services. In the end the seasonal item was no longer available & there was no way to get in touch with the store to see if the item was back in stock. The phone number provided is NOT for the store, it is routed to merchandise guest services. Once you are in the system it takes many emails & phone calls to find out that there isn’t anything they can do for you if the item doesn’t show up in their system. This trip was supposed to be a getaway for my family, after a difficult summer of trying to heal from my surgery & our cat passing away from a sudden illness. So, having peace of mind that these items would be shipped, meant we would have some unique Halloween decorations to put up when we got home. But this did not happened & instead I’m spending time trying to get the refund & writing this note to let others know, they may want to think about alternative options when it comes to your shipping choices, You might want to consider FedEx or UPS to ship your Disney purchases, I know I will in the future. The cast members I spoke with did all they could, this is a management problem on how things are handled through the various departments. Very disappointed in Disney shipping merchandise...
