I was not at Zappos the other day. Must have been near. But I have been to the zap hq in the past. It's been a few years.. every year around the holidays(Thanksgiving. I think). Zappos opens the door for a free turkey dinner and a pair of new shoes. The good stuff. Nike, Adidas,puma,sketchers, under armour etc.... This was a tony hsieh give back to the community.. if you are ever downtown in November and you see 1000 people in line in front of Zappos, then the fete is on. I have not been to this in years, but I hope this tradition continues despite Tony's untimley passing. I met tony once. Sorta. About 8 years ago I busted out at craps at casino Royale. Walked down to fountains at Bellagio. 3am. I remember it was cold. Sidewalk traffic was sparse. I was close to broke. I was depressed. Stared at the water for a minute. Started to walk north. Here comes tony. All by himself. He looks at me and just knows. Gives me 20 and says. "Have a drink on me".... The legacy of tony is growing faster than the universe. RIP...
Read moreThe "Gold Standard" for Service / Customer Service. Nothing is perfect, but it's how you fix that imperfection which says a lot about a company. I received shoes that were marked incorrectly. I called Zappos and was on and off the phone, fully satisfied, within three (3) minutes.
The representative assessed my need, took ownership and applied their expertise. She processed a replacement, a return (with included an immediate pick-up) and set the perfect expectation. "WOW"!! TRUST THE CUSTOMER, what a concept.
Unlike other companies that keep you on the phone for 40 minutes, then they want a picture, then they want you to package everything up. take it to a third party shipper, ship it at your own cost, and then wait for them to receive it, for them to even start the replacement or refund efforts.

Read moreWorst experience ever … I bought a pair of Hoka. Upon receipt I realized they have different sizing that other shoes so I asked for a return. The website showed a message telling I needed to call the store for that return. On the phone i was told that since I paid my items with a gift card I could not get a refund but a store credit. I explained that I paid with my American express not with a gift card . It took them 45 min to figure it out and they finally sent me a return label. 14 days after shipping it I still didnt get my refund. I called them again and they told me that they had received the shoes today ( of course) and it will take 30 days to proceed my refund ! No doubt those companies are going to go bankrupt… When you return a pair of shoes on Amazon you are getting your refund as soon as you drop the package …
