I've been to numerous Chicago movie theatres/dine-ins and this is by far the worst one I've ever gone to. I don't normally leave negative reviews, but the experience I had at this place was so bad, I felt the need to warn other moviegoers. Do not be fooled by the theatre's beautiful architecture; The staff and the dining system here are HORRIBLE.
This place requires you to order your food at the front counter versus other dine-ins who have servers come to take orders from your seats. I came with a party of 6. When the server arrived with my party's first two orders (about 20-30 minutes after we placed them), the movie had already started, so the room was dark. The server literally threw down our food and walked away; She didn't even say what's in it or asked who ordered it. This forced us to use our phone's flashlight to identify the contents, which disturbed the other guests. The second order was thrown down in similar fashion about 40 minutes into the movie.
For the last order, we were already halfway through the movie (over an hour in) before I got up and walked all the way to the front desk/concession stand, which was causing me to miss a portion of the movie. I politely spoke to the manager (dark curly haired man, fair skin, black? framed glasses) who did not even greet me or ask "How can I help you?"/offer ANY sort of customer service manners. He just looked at me and said, "Is someone helping you?" and walked off to the kitchen after I briefly explained my situation. He eventually told me the order wasn't even being prepared and could have possibly been sent to the wrong theatre. As someone who has been educated/has experience working in the customer service field, I expected this manager to say something along the lines of, "I apologize for the mix-up, we'll prepare your order right away and have it out immediately" or to offer a refund, but he didn't say anything to that extent at all. He didn't care. I had to ASK HIM when it will be done. I still thanked him and went back to my movie to wait.
It was at least another 15 minutes before I had to get back up AGAIN (missing more of the movie, disturbing other guests) to politely ask for an update. It was the same manager. I eventually asked him for a refund since he did not offer one. He refunded me, but when I asked him why it wasn't the full total, he said "Well, you took the drinks right?" Begrudgingly, he eventually refunded the drinks, saying, "Well since you're so unhappy about it..." I was absolutely appalled by his attitude. Is THIS what you call customer service? I normally wouldn't care to pay the 5 measly dollars worth of drinks (that he didn't want to refund me for), but like every other customer, we paid honest money and expected to receive at least SOME reasonable service. Instead of trying to fix a mistake YOU and YOUR staff made, you'd rather pinch pennies and refund my order as if you're doing ME a favor?
Besides giving these individuals an attitude check, all of this could have also been avoided if there were actual servers present in the theatre to tend to guests. They'd know who ordered what and from what specific seat. What if someone needed more napkins or utensils? Without servers coming in to check on guests, guest would be forced to walk all the way out to the front desk to get it and miss their movie each time?
CONCLUSION: Take your hard earned money and go to another theatre. You'll be starving throughout your movie AND missing screentime by running to the front just to get unnecessary attitude from the manager if you come to this miserable establishment....
Read moreSuch a retro looking movie theater This is the first movie theater I’ve been to that has more than just popcorn and snacks They have a dine in experience I love the interior design, it looks so 1930’s to me. Yet the seats are so modern. They are also heated and reclinable. The staff were friendly and helpful to me, since I am 2,000 miles away from the regular theaters I go to. Hope to go back soon or if I ever visit Rosemont Chicago again.
Update 😕 I reduce the stars I give this movie theater from 5 stars in 2022 to now 1 star as of 2023. Most of these staff members were rude Expect the nice lady who rung up my food, she was very sweet and professional at her job. However the guy who takes the tickets wasn’t very friendly to me in the beginning And the guy who refunded me… well he wasn’t very welcoming. I don’t know if it’s this generation or the time we are living in, but there is one thing that isn’t the staffs fault at this, it’s happening at every theater I go to, people don’t put their phones down during the movies feature presentation. We pay high prices for tickets and refreshments to see a movie. But it takes just one person to lift their phone and causes you to remove your eyes from the big screen to their little screen. Weather they are posting or texting every 5-10 seconds. Unfortunately they aren’t the only ones that are on their phones. I saw one person 6 months ago at my hometown AMC watch a football game instead of the movie, he was sitting in front of me while another individual was texting to their buddy every 10 seconds. Why I’m attacking this theater is because, they stopped caring. People who pay to see a movie should watch the movie, not stream social media. If they can’t take their eyes off a phone in a theater, then they shouldn’t be allowed in a movie theater. The staff was rude, especially they guy who took my tickets. I get it, I understand what it’s like to work in retail, if you have a problem with customers then ask to work in a department that doesn’t deal with very many customers… be thankful I can’t remember his name, I felt like I was a Karen, and I hate being one since I know what it’s like to deal with one. The only other thing I can say that was positive, thanks for the grilled chicken avocado sandwich and mozzarella sticks. And thanks for the free future movie. I won’t be coming back again. I think the staff here doesn’t want me here, not the way they treated me and how upset I was. I tried so hard to stay calm in the cell phone situation (I truly think the guy who sat next to me in auditorium 1 H7 didn’t speak English, so I don’t know what language to speak (wasn’t a language I was familiar with) to tell him to put his phone down) Like I said, I completely understand if you guys ban me. I didn’t feel welcome the moment I walked in. Only one staff member made me feel welcome, she was great, wish I knew her name to thank her for her hospitality. For the others who read this, please put your phone down, it ruins the movie experience that is...
Read moreWe have gone to the AMC Rosemont over 12 times. My review is based on many experiences here. The parking lot is not connected to the movie theater, which sucks, especially during the winter months when it is freezing cold. Parking is FREE (take your parking ticket with you -- validate your ticket inside the theater AFTER -- not before). Machines for validating parking ticket are located near the exit doors (one on the left and one on the right). If you are lazy, and sometimes people are lazy, you can valet park. We've never done valet parking. I don't know if valet parking is free or not.
Matinee prices are decent ($4.99 for the FIRST movie). We rarely go to an evening show here. Lots of restaurants nearby (less than 10-minutes away). Shoot up Mannheim Road towards Touhy Ave. There are tons restaurants on the west side of Mannheim, north of Touhy). Seats are very comfortable and surround sound speakers are excellent. This theater offers assigned seating (select WHERE you want to sit). If you are a VIP AMC member you get free popcorn and soda pop refills. Prices are very high for snacks and candy. We always sneak in our own snacks and candy. Clean, huge bathrooms. Staff here is hit or miss. Sometimes they are clueless and in a daze. Other times staff is friendly. You can purchase your own tickets in advance, via the Fandango app, or you can purchase tickets upon arriving at the theater (self-serve ticket kiosks). You also can stand in a long, long line and purchase your ticket(s) the old-fashioned way. LOL, who does this anymore?!?! My rating is 4-stars based on the fact that the parking garage does NOT connect to the movie theater and the price point for snacks and candy is pricey. My recommendation or advice (whether you asked for it or not) is (1) grab something to eat at a nearby restaurant (2) bring your own...
