I first decided not to return to this location last year when I noticed a dedicated camera on just the shelves of hair products tailored for women with âtexturedâ (per the label on the shelf) hair. All other beauty product aisles were monitored with cameras at the ends of the aisles on the ceiling, if at all. So, I was disheartened and upset that management decided that because I have âtexturedâ hair, I must be a thief and deserve a camera in my face as I shop for conditioner. I wrote to corporate, of course I received no response.
I hadnât returned to that store until last month when I placed an order online and wanted to pick it up in store. I was only given part of my order at pick up, but I didnât notice until I got home. I was/am very busy and didnât have time to go back, so I called so they could remedy their mistake. I asked if they could ship the rest to me, they said no. I asked for a refund and they said Iâd have to call back. As I suggested solutions that wouldnât require more from me - i.e. customer centric solutions - they dug their heels into making me do things their silly way. When I asked why it was necessary for me to call back the next day they said that their system wouldnât allow a same day refund. That didnât explain why I had to call back so I asked again and was told its their policy that I be on the phone. I knew they were making that up so I escalated to the store manager who of course backed his reps by insisting that I call back. But not even he could give me a good reason why and his lame excuses confirmed what I originally guessed, which was that they wanted me to call back just because they decided not to provide me the best service they could.
In the course of a 20+ minute conversation with me practically begging the manager to handle his repsâ mistake without burdening me any further, he told me that they werenât even supposed to do phone refunds, which was a flag for me because the reps said that the policy was to have the customer on the phone for phone refunds. The managerâs statement made it clear to me that there is no such policy and that they didnât need me on the phone. Also, while the reps said that I needed to be on the line âjust becauseâ, the manager (eventually) said that he didnât know if theyâd need personal info from me... smh. Seems to me that theyâd try first and then get me on the phone if they needed more info. So, the call ended in a deadlock with me assured that my business is not valued. Not even the highest manager had any desire to make me a happy shopper. Couple this with my experience last year and I can only...

Read moreIt is unfortunate when I feel the need to write a negative review. However, this Target has demonstrated an ability that overtly disregards a person's dignity. My fiance, her sister, and their teenage niece visited the store to purchase undergarments for teenage as a bonding experience and rite of passage for her niece. What was to be a happen moment of shared womanhood, became a souring experience of being overtly followed, radioed, and checked for stealing. Maybe they wear not dress the part of shoppers? I don't know what made them seem like shoplifters and required cameras to follow them in and out of the restroom and dressing rooms, but they must have met the unwritten rules. They returned sadden and upset. Moreover, after hearing their story, their mother said that it is a common "happenstance" at that location.
I was looking to invest funds into Target stocks, yet this episode has caused me to think that. I don't like judging entire organizations based on a few misguided stores and a small number of employees; howbeit, I will no longer invest my money with nor purchase goods from Target. In this current digital and media age, where a person purchases good and what he/she invest in is thought of as a reflection...
