I love going in the evening when all the shops and restaurants are open, people are getting ice cream and going to the movies, couples riding the ferris wheel and kids on the merry go round. There are lots of good food trucks usually parked along the street and if you cross the bridge you'll find yourself staring at the Pacific Ocean. Watching all the boats coming in and out is one of my most favorite things to do. Across the street from Pike Outlets you'll find Pike's Pier, The Aquarium, The Lighthouse ( an actual Lighthouse- to be clear, I'm not referring to the Parkers Lighthouse Restaurant in Shoreline Village, another LB iconic spot) and lots of cool restaurants, many with outside areas facing the water.
Between the Laugh Factory, ferris wheel, carousel, movie theater and Cold Stone ice cream place, the Outlets are usually busy with people - adults and kids alike, especially during the day when the Aquarium is open across the street bringing in bus loads of visitors.
The Pike is an essential Long Beach place to visit. Take a moment and look up the rich history of the entire area and you just might view it all differently with its long history in mind. There's lots to see, do, photograph and eat. Parking can be hit or miss. Plan to pay and keep your eye on the time and you'll have no trouble getting a space either in the parking garage or at one of the many...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went here after the Aquarium (Highly recommend going to the Aquarium of the Pacific). The Outlet mall was pretty disappointing to be honest. Some of the stores smelt like sewage. Outside there was also the smell of weed smoke. My girlfriend and I had to use the restroom and we asked someone at Forever 21 where they were. They told us it was upstairs but H&M. We go up there and it's closed so we ask some one in H&M about it. They said those restrooms haven't worked and have been locked for over a year. They said the only public restroom options were back downstairs and over by the Ferris wheel or over at Hooters.
So we go over to the Ferris wheel and see an unmarked door with nothing indicating a restroom that has a number passcode lock on it. Luckily at that time someone from janitorial came out and we asked if the restrooms were in there. They said yes and let us use them. This place ain't worth the hype.... Also both escalators were down, who knows if it's the same as the restrooms and they've been down for a...
