“Zero initiation” ok…this place is super progressive. So that’s a warning to people that are just trying to go about their normal lives. Went here a year ago. I wasn’t doing really well. I got attacked working at a 7-11. It was very violent and I had to rest. For 2 months had ptsd etc. So long story short I recovered. Started taking ju Jitsu which really helped me out. So I started branching out to other physical workouts. That’s why I went here it was up the street says it has weight lifting class, martial arts etc. sounds great. I went to the first martial arts class with Halle. Did not know that it was ONLY for trans, female, or non-binary (basically no straight white men). I was not asked it was just an awkward experience and I left. They ask if I was trans but did not ask if non-binary etc….just so you know I’m (bi-sexual). Or WAS after that experience I’m just sick of that whole community. So now I’m also closeted again….thanks 💅Because I’ve never been accepted by that community….anyways I’d like to keep that to myself, but just would like to point out how wrong you actually were. I got beat up, was trying to better myself then you just open up an unnecessary burden about my sexuality that I really was not trying to think about. Gyms should be gyms idk why this stuff is pushed here…accept everyone. Don’t be a bigot and keep it pushing…your doing more harm than good in your Triumphs of kindness ….also it’s like 100 plus the first month to join. So that was a waste of money…I also found out that all these classes offered including the one that I was idk I’d say (ostracized) from. Are all ran buy random members of the gym not even real staff….ridiculous for a $100+ gym..yea, yea the price goes down to 80, after the...
Read moreI love HoBo. I think it's a great climbing gym and I really fw the community. That said, they desperately need to do a better job of advertising their group classes. I mean,,they have some PHENOMENAL classes (I particularly like Zoe's Yoga classes, Amanda's 'Strength & Mobility,' Robin & Amanda's 'Acro Yoga,' and Becky's 'Thai Massage'). The reason I mention this lack of advertising is that some of these classes really depend on even numbers, particularly, Thai Massage.
Most of the members I talk to don't know that Thai Massage (or really any classes for that matter) exists, which is completely bonkers because it is a literal free 45-minute massage,,in LA! I mean, name anywhere else in this city where you can get four 45-minute massages a month included in your $100 membership. Also it's a seriously good massage. Highkey better than most of what you'll find out there.
Anyways, I know I'm kind of going off here but like please y'all,,these teachers are incredible and deserve to be treated as such. We just want more students to be able to share the work with and I think something as simple as a couple Insta posts/stories would make a major difference. I just want these classes to get the attendance that...
Read moreOverall this gym is not bad. I’m giving it 1 star because as someone that comes when the gym opens (6:30am weekdays and 9am weekends), roughly 20% of the time, the opener is not on time. Whether it’s a scheduling issue or they overslept, I don’t know, but they’re often 30min to hours late. This is especially annoying when I force myself to wake up early to try and get a workout in before work. Everyone would rather sleep in but we make an effort to go to the gym early because of life obligations and responsibilities. It’s incredibly frustrating when you’re on a time crunch and the business doesn’t open when they say they would.
If this happens once or twice it’s excusable, sure, but this happens all the time. I’ve talked to the manager, he’s apologetic and assures that changes will be made but it keeps happening. I don’t know what else to do but to voice my frustrations here.
Touchstone has also raised membership pricing a few times since I’ve joined a little over a year ago, but the quality of my experience has gotten worse. As much as I love these gyms, I may have to start finding a new gym to go to as Hollywood boulders/touchstone clearly don’t respect...
